It is not about inclusivity, regarding this IP and lore. McLeod is a young immortal. Ramirez played by Connery was supposed to be a Egyptian living through both Greek and Roman conquest. Yes, old immortals are game at adapting to the ever changing societal norms, but some traits are inherited. But The Feels![]()
Lets see what they churn out, I'll keep my expectations low seeing how many shows has been reformed to fit inclusivity.
Highlander the IP didn't invent immortality or their beheading, but it did establish The Game, the Quickening and The Gathering through duelling.
To reboot this movie I want to see 'old' immortals still living their days, things and views they hold on to. Likewise with the Highlander who should still be rooted as a Scot.
Back in the day, both the movie and series though not sharing the same timeline, they added good historical context as to why the Highlander is wielding a Katana. Small things add up to answer questions.
What I am suggesting is the same you see in Vampire lore.
