Hep B vaccine

Have any of you guys had it done? Going to start my course hopefully this weekend. Friend said he will do the injections for me. I asked at the Dischem here by work quick and they said they do have it (but only one dose at the moment) and it is like R125 a dose I think. From what my friend have said you need 3 doses over a a month, then again after a year 3 shots over a month and then year 2 you get a booster shot and then you set for life I think.

From my experience it is better to just use the Dischem nurses to do it. They really don't charge much and will be able to perform it correctly, painlessly and provide useful information. Many other chemists also provide this service for very cheap.
 
Is Hep B the bad one? Or the liver one? or the lips one? pardon my ignorance.

Both Hep B and Hep C can be bad. Hep C is rare though, but most people will be infected and have it on a chronic basis. Hep B can be prevented with a vaccine....and frankly I dont know why these kind of things are not pushed heavily by our health department.

I know. It is since I have been told Prep is available to us and cheaply too ... and when told by the same guy that he is vaccinated against Hep B and I should be too then ja, I think it is good that as many people as possible should do it. If it is available, why not get that protection? And this is the Health section after all and I think STD's should be discussed openly and frankly. Should get rid of this shaming sh*t, stop judging and get a bloody handle on all this crap.

I can only imagine what all these "protection" measures does to one's body, not to mention the liver /shiver

What happened to a good condom?
 
Hmm. I think the next time I go to get my travel immunizations updated I should ask them to just stick me with everything they've got. Cover all the bases so to speak.
