Assume this "leader" is remanded in custody? Otherwise they'd just refuse to let him go to court appearances

Yeah, he'll be taken to Strand today and appear tomorrow.

Hermanus CPF update 19/07/18 at 10h40 : we confirm that the case has been postponed to be heard in the Regional Court in Strand. Zwelihle and CBD still quiet, no groupings have formed. The R43 is open, access roads to Zwelihle are closed. Law Enforcement agencies are in position.

The CBD has never been threatened and the R43 only closes now and again for safety sake. But the protests/riots are all contained in the same area and if you are coming for a weekend, you'll have the same great time that you always do ;)

We will not stop standing up for our rights, whether the Government can use deadly force on us, we know what we want and we shall not stop until we get what we want.

We said to be in a Democratic State when our Government is being ran by Politicians who are only for themselves and are pushing their Political Propaganda and care less about the people, we are being told about Freedom when we are still Oppressed, Segregated and are treated differently from other races in the Western Cape especially in Hermanus.

So called "Concerned Citizens" are concerned about a Fence but not Concerned about lives of children dying because of the Teargas that is being thrown in the Location, the whole Zwelihle Community is polluted by Teargas no person can breathe and people are dying. What type of people who would prefer to leave with animals in a big mansion and animals invade a huge space when there are a people without any roof on top of them, people who prefer to buy expensive food for a dog and not even buy a sandwich for their hard working employees, people who would let a dog sit in front in a bakkie and let one employee seat behind a bakkie in a windy weather.

We are aware that all the deadly measures implemented are deliberately to kill us and our children as that was the decision taken by all the Hermanus Stakeholders, SAPS & Overstrand Municipality that have met to collaborate to kill the people of Zwelihle. DA & ANC are amongst the top people who are driving the collaboration and have set down on million meetings to come up with a plan to cover their cruelty and uselessness.

They came up with a plan to start a campaign to call in the Army to Zwelihle and are driving a Political Propaganda that there are terrorists in Zwelihle holding people hostage of their Freedom, all the members of the Community are together in this Match we are all talking with one voice, if there where people who were held hostage, would they come back to the same place they are held hostage at everyday. I mean people go to town, go to the mall, go to everywhere they want to go, when they come back they join the fight without being forced by anyone, the community had agreed that in order for our demand to be met no person will go to any work, the business need to feel what we are feeling and instead of putting too much effort trying to change our minds they should start spending so much efforts in negotiations with those who opened the cases against Gcobani Ndzongana, he was not part of the actions of removing that fence and they know it, they are only targeting him because it's all a Political Game, the same people who are now targeting him are the same people that were offering him a job at the DA and when he refused, they sat down and came up with more plans to take him down, some of them went as far as hiring a hit men to kill him and the Zwelihle Renewal Committee, it is because people of Zwelihle do not trust them and they trust Gcobani because he is genuine and only for the people and their rights, all Politicians see him as a threat to their parties hence the huge collaboration to try and bring him down.

People of Zwelihle are sick and tired of the Apartheid Racist Oppression happening in Hermanus and all they want is also to be seen as human beings in their land. The white community is the first and last priority in Hermanus, all the services are meant for them and all black people are not part of the society but only slaves to keep the White more wealthy. When you do get that little service, they make it seem like they are making you a favour.

If people are kept hostage, why are they not allowing other Media Houses to come listen to the people of Zwelihle and are stopping all of them out and only allowing their own Photographer who is driving their own Propaganda. They turn all the Media Houses out and only allow Marthunis J Barnard of MyWhaleCoast Page who has been writing lies and only pushing a DA Political Propaganda.

The business community and law enforcement have identified this guy with a tourism business, Marthunis J Barnard, as the only one allowed to report according to the narrative they designed to protect the tourism image of Hermanus. They even bought him an expensive camera with funds donated.

He does not report on police brutality of the effects of tear gas on children etc. The clinic has been closed to draw people out of Zwelihle so if they get arrested at hospital if they have rubber bullet wounds the crowd is not nearby to protect them. It’s an old Apartheid DA trick.

All the campaign's been pushed are all political driven, they claim to have met with the community of Zwelihle and have heard the people's side, that is all a lie, the Protest started on Tuesday evening and as usual all the Zwelihle Councillors were booked Hotels out of Zwelihle and have been leaving there from early Wednesday till this moment, none of SAPS/ Municipal Officials have came in Zwelihle including the whole Council, all the lies they are spreading are cooked outside Zwelihle by Politicians who see the Committee (Zwelihle Renewal) that has been put by Zwelihle Community to stand for them as a threat to their jobs which is all they care about.

If there are people threatened why are they targeting the Zwelihle Renewal Committee, why can't they wait for the Minister Bheki Cele to come here and address the issue, I'm quite sure he will have the powers against all the so called hooligans and terrorists if there are any in Zwelihle, why are they pushing so hard now?

It is because they realised they have done a huge damage and the world is about to know that now, they are now pushing hard to keep the people of Zwelihle inside Zwelihle so they can also lie to the Media Houses who will come to Gcobani"s case and the Minister tomorrow. They are trying very hard to make sure that the Minister does not come to Zwelihle tomorrow because they are trying to hide their cruelty and uselessness.

We invite all Media Houses who are interested in the real story of Zwelihle and would like to come into Zwelihle and get all the footage they want including injured Zwelihle Residents who were shot with Live Bullets, Straight Contact Teargas, Hand Grenades, See Families of Children Who Died and are dying, Dogs that are Shot With Direct Contact Teargas, Houses Damaged deliberately by Police Force, people shot inside their houses on their beds, families of people arrested inside their houses etc.

We invite all relevant Media Houses and Departments to intervene in this situation, we are being treated like animals in Hermanus, those in Hermanus who were born after 1994 are now witnessing the Apartheid Era at first hand. We have a Safe House for all the Media Houses, we will pick them up, we guarantee all your safety and promise you a very good interesting footages at first hand, if you care about human rights take this opportunity and come and have first hand story and footages.

The Human Rights Commissioner Chris Nissen and Brigade Helbron and the Zwelihle Renewal have started negotiations and we were going somewhere until Chris Nissen got closed outside and is bring privented by SAPS to come anywhere closer to the community.

Today is Gcobani Ndzongana"s Court Case, they do not want us to go to Court because they do not want us to meet with anyone as they are hiding the truth from everyone so we are expecting them to put maximum measures to stop us from going there but we shall push our way there as our leader needs our support.

Gcobani is a good man who lives by the values of human beings and he has given his whole life in fighting for the people regardless who he has to fight with and he has earned his love and respect from the people of Zwelihle Community through his hard work, dedication and work that he has been doing for them, obviously we all know that kind of a person will not be loved by most Politicians because the person is doing their jobs which they are failing to do and now they are doing all in their power to get rid of him, that is the real truth people.

Lol, old people moving out, many young people (especially Gautengers) moving in. Coloureds now more integrated, many blacks occupying granny flats. Retirement villages here in the abundance. Things has been changing in CEY for some time now.

This reads poorly, as does most of the comments on their facebook page. The IQ is very low here. Not only are they causing this onto themselves, they seem to be living in complete ignorance. Shame really.

I read it this afternoon and even now I find it hard to start to comment because the arguments are so ridiculous.

It screams 'VICTIM' in every line. Apartheid, whites have everything, blacks have nothing, police want to kill us etc etc etc.

And the reality is that so many people I know work so hard to uplift this very community. Normal people who give up time and money and energy raising funds, building houses, organising work, so many things. It's just disappointing that people in the township who may have real grievances, allow them to be overshadowed by the views and ramblings of people like this.

Hermanus CPF update 19/07/18 at 19h15 : there is a large crowd that formed at the Taxi Rank in Zwelihle, it has started moving towards Swartdam Road. POP have taken action with tear gas. R43 is open, Zwelihle access roads are closed. SAPS, POP, Law Enforcement and Traffic are on the scene.
 
Another night of violence in full swing....

A policeman has been hacked by the rioters in Zwelihle. He's seriously injured in his head, rifle has been taken away from him by the group of violent mob. This strengthens our call for the Army to come and save our people. My heartfelt sympathy to the family of the policeman involved. I wish him speedy recovery.
