Wasn't this just nature reserve a few months ago?

Since the last attempt at disruption by these tin pot revolutionaries the Land Party, the community have run the leaders out of town and stability has returned to the area.

Several members and Leaders of the Hawston, Mount Pleasant, Zwelihle and Hermanus communities met and have decided to form a new group to promote community safety, as well as to advance the town's interests as far as possible. It was decided in the last few meetings that the R43 will not be closed again for any protest action. The UFR will operate within the legislation to support stability and economic progress that will benefit the broader community. The Hermanus whale festival and the upcoming Steve Hofmeyer Concert as well as the Concert in Zwelihle and Hawston at the end of the month. The UFR has decided on cooperation between communities to protect Hermanus from those who wish to tear it down, as well as to resist the germs that do not carry Hemanus's interests at heart. Hermanus is everyone's village and also a legacy for our children and grandchildren. The UFR would therefore like to warn those who make any further attempt to destabilize the town, that we will not tolerate it any further. We will work with the Neighborhood Watch, SAPS and Private Security company types to ensure this. The community has had enough and will do everything in its power to make the town safe and governable again. The UFR also wishes everyone in the Hermanus a wonderful Whale Festival, Steve Hofmeyer Concert, Zwelihle and Hawston Concert and ensures that we will do everything in our power to stop the any bad elements.
Regards UFR
Don't stay away, normality has returned and the good life is awaiting :p

Depends from which side of the fence you are looking from. A "yes" from the sprawling township's side , a "no" from Sandbaai, Hermanus Beach Club , West Cliff's side.
Nonsense, this is great news for those suburbs. Do you know they are using the Better Living Model? It's a mixed development and will uplift the area and surrounds. I'm looking forward to being able to walk along the Schulphoek beach to town.

What makes you think this better living model is going to mean better living for anyone other than the politicians chosen to run the thing? Are there any examples where it has been successfully implemented?

This newspaper clip says exactly what the Netwerk24 Hermanus Times articles say - 7500 housing opportunities for disadvantaged people , and the whole of this piece of land , namely Schulphoek will be used for housing - the previously planned desalination plant will even have to be relocated.

This is definitely not a V&A Waterfront or Kleinmond Harbour development ...

The cliff path route does have incidents , as well as the Sandbaai beach area.

Yeah, I fail to share his optimism for this "better living" model...

Don't expect any bargains for the beach front plots.

All of this is just political fluff. There is nothing on that site showing even a cursory consideration of the factors needed to make this socially and economically viable.. The whole thing seems to be written by someone in Murray and Roberts' (now Concor) PR department. It's all just pictures and ideas with no consideration to the obviously serious challenges a project like this is going to face.
