Hero killed while saving hijacked woman

They stole the car and then left it further down Swartklip? So they were just too lazy to walk and a human being had to pay with his life for it.

My wife's parents live in Mandalay and I cannot hope enough their house gets sold quickly enough (its in the market at the moment) so they can move to the countryside, purely because I don't want her driving that road so often to visit them, not even to mention my kids being with her in the car.

Of course shooting them if you have your gun on you would be the correct action. However he didn't have a gun. He had stones.

Barring my family, I don't think I would take a bullet for anyone. This guy deserves to be called a hero, even if his actions were not the best thing to do.

Completely agreed. I'm no hero and I know it, and I doubt I'll try to fight for a stranger without my firearms (I have a family I have to think about), but that doesn't mean that we should nail him for trying, nor do we have the right to say anything negative about it.
 
Who the **** is nailing him or scolding him or whatever?

That's like calling someone brave who throws stones at a lion. Unless he had cover and not place himself at risk, his actions were more suicidal than brave.

If the lion is going for someone else and that's all that was available to distract them, that is the very definition of bravery.

Same as this, yes it wasn't the most well thought out plan, but he reacted and tried to help a lady out. This is why we need more people like him and less like the two Spur idiots or the various other idiots on Social Media.

He risked his life to help a stranger. That is bravery in every sense of the word.

You're assuming that he knew they had a firearm while this section clearly states that one of them "took out", which one could reasonably interpret to mean from concealment:

“A 30-year-old male pedestrian who witnessed the hijacking threw stones at the hijackers while they were removing the victim from the vehicle. One of the suspects then took out a firearm and shot the pedestrian in the head."
