Hi,

I'm not sure where to post this, but I'm experiencing issues with DNS & website hosting with Hetzner.

Like with my MWEB/WebAfrica ADSL accounts, I can't even resolve mybroadband.co.za's DNS, nevertheless access this website.
Currently I'm proxying my HTTP traffic (and DNS) via my office that has Neobroadband Fibre, on which all Hetzner services are working 100% - all just to access my favorite myBB forums :D

I've contacted Hetzner support just a while ago with regards to this, so I'm curiously awaiting for a response from them.

... sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Same issue here.

Hetzner's shared hosting seems to be back up, and ITWeb which is also hosted in the MTN Business DC is back up.

MyBB and Ster-Kinekor remain down, though :(

I'm posting this from a Cell C connection, but I can't connect to MyBB on ADSL or MTN.

I still haven't received anything from Hetzner yet. I suppose this is an MTN Business issue rather than an Hetzner one.

I came across an MTN Business status report of some kind, but its not very accurate either: http://status.texo.co.za/2012/06/06/cape-town-datacentre/
Wed 06 June 2012 21:37 There is a problem with the connection to the Cape Town DC which has made all Texo servers in Cape Town inaccessible. DC engineers are attending to the problem.

21:55 It appears that MTN Business (which supplies bandwidth to the Cape Town DC) has had a complete network failure.

22:02 Everything appears to be back online again.

Our office only lost connectivity to Truteq (also hosted on MTN Business) for 30 minutes: between 21:30 - 22:00.

I'd love to see a proper network issue report on this...

I am having problems connecting to Hetzner via MWeb, but seem to be having better luck accessing via my MTN Cell phone.
Also had problems with this site. On here right now via Afrihost.

Actually, MWeb working again now, so I may have just crossed over to Afrihost as they were coming right.

do we have any more info on what caused the outage on MTN Business last night?

Our company are looking to move over to MTN from Internet Solutions for our diginet/fixed lines, but I think its a bad idea!!!

what you think?

Hi guys,

Here's the reason that I received from Hetzner:
The outage last night was caused by a network routing problem on MTN Business. Please see the below network notice for more details.

Symptoms experienced: All network services (websites, email etc.) are currently not available due to the MTN Business national network outage
Cause of problem: Network Routing Problem
Estimated time of repair: TBA
Additional information: MTN Business engineers are investigating

I can ask my brother again on how stable they've experienced MTN network to be.

My company is now moving our hosting away from Neotel to Vodacom. We've had just way too much downtime at Neotel.
So far Vodacom looks good, but we've also had a few minutes of downtime with them, but at least not for 30minutes - a few hours like we had at Neotel.

My brother just warned us to not make use of Vodacom's servers, because:
1) asking for changes takes forever
2) they don't know what they're doing
3) so you end up with slow performing hardware that you're paying a fortune for

So far we're very happy at Vodacom since we're maintaining our own servers.
