So I'm going on leave for the next two weeks and my aim is to STAY on leave for the next two weeks (always gets canceled and called back to work two or three days in). Havent had a real break in the last five years.

My aim is to make myself unreachable, but I still want my friends to be able to get hold of me.

I've got the call forwarding shebam set up, the email read receipts sorted out and completely uninstalled the sms app from my phone. The only problem that remains is Whatsapp. Last seen is disabled and the blue ticks on reading a message is disabled, but it still shows 'online' when im using the app.

Anyone know of a way to kill that?

This is why you have 2 phones. 1 for work and 1 for everything else.

If you block somebody, can they still see when you're online?

If not, the solution is just to block everybody at your work on whatsapp.

Reply to the message with data/wifi switched off. When you turn it back on the message will be delivered. Not ideal but dont think there is is any other way.

This. When you block a Whatsapp contact, they don't get notification ticks or online notes so it just looks like you have no signal. When you unblock them, everything reverts to normal.

But you'll never receive the messages sent while they were blocked.

Just ignore them OP. Leave is leave.

Simply mute them and ignore them.

Reading them is as bad as replying to them because it means you are thinking about it.
