Hide traffic from ISP - encrypt? Proxy? VPN?

Load of BS. I wouldn't do business with someone that tries to enforce their opinion of what is moral. If he is serious about his business he should very well and very quickly let go of his personal conservative views and allow his customers to view what they want (providing it is legal).

People like this should stay out of business. Next he'll have a cupcake shop that refuses to sell to "the homosexuals, hippies or Jews" or some shyte like that.

He doesn't sound forward thinking and this or any future business is likely doomed to fail.

Move ISPs end of story

Reminds me of this idiot i used to work for that also started up a isp. At night he'd sit staring at the mikrotik bandwidth monitor and if he just saw one spike on a clients connection he'd phone them up and ask what they were doing.

I'd switch ISP if i were you.

Change ISP's.

Have a look at Crystal Web, Vox, Axxess, etc.

I use CW, can recommend, a bit pricey compared to the rest though, especially on capped. In fairness it's a high quality product. Vox has roll over on capped.

Agreed, I'd love crystal Web, but it's a bit more pricy for my requirements. (premium stuff)

Currently with Vox due to rollover data.

Domains.co.za also has capped packages you can look at

Look, you can be straight with us OP.

You're into some really weird, borderline legal, tranny BDSM stuff. It's cool man, we don't judge.

If you really want a VPN for privacy purposes, we can help with that. Have a look at Private Internet Access for example.

Most of us are going to recommend changing ISPs cause no matter how good a price he's giving you, it comes down to a principle/ethics of the situation. None of us here would put up with BS like that from our ISP and neither should you.

Thank you. To be honest it's the vegetarian stuff I'm really worried about. I'll check the URL you gave.

Re changing the ISP - I'll talk to the guy about what he can and can't do. He may have a take it or leave it attitude in which case I'll change but he's the inly ISP in the area that can do faster than a 2Mb ADSL line unless I go with some kind of LTE thing which will cost a fortune.

Wait what? Telkom determines line speed. Not ISPS?

With the greatest of respect. It sounds like you're not too clued up about internet things and this guy is taking advantage of that and is feeding you a load of hogwash which you are eating up quite easily, but none of what you are saying sits well with anyone here.

There is no reason for you to be loyal to this guy, you first sighted support, which is great at a number of other places as well, and secondly that he offers faster line speeds than anyone else which makes no sense... unless I am missing something I am confused why you would even be trying to justify this cr@p in almost 2016 when you are spoilt for decent choice.

The fastest line Telkom can provide is 2mb ADSL due to distance from the exchnage. Anything higher and the modem/router wont sync and hold the connection. It's been like this for years and Telkom can't or won't fix it.

This new ISP uses direct wifi with 'line of sight (or maybe site)' to a tower to get higher speeds.

I admitted up front I'm not a tech guru which is why I'm posting here. The responses have been super helpful though. I'm seeing the guy tomorrow and I'll chat to him.

Right, that makes sense then. However I would rather have a slower 2MB line than some BS ISP owner who monitors sites.

Try a different WISP then.

Does that guy even hold a licence?

WAT.

I'm gonna guess he told you this himself. He's taking you for a ride without any vaseline.

EDIT: Nvm, read your follow-up post. So not really ADSL anyway. LTE sounds like a better option though.

Ah ok. Now it makes a little more sense. So he is offering you something that not every ISP can. Best is to chat to him. If it doesnt work out there ought to be some other providers if you look around a bit.

Good Luck
