High mobile data prices – Operators respond

Well for one option there it's Afrihost & AXXESS....

R57/58 = 1GB
R97/98 = 2GB
R147/148 = 3GB

The above is great when you are with MTN because you use your current simcard for calls and Afrihost/Axxess data with just adding a new entry by your APN settings.

Maybe there are other options available for other service providers but the above has worked for me thus far.

We need to start researching and not just giving our monies away to these thieves.

Well that's the thing. I don't even know why people would recommend Afrihost when Axxess has the same option but with 3 month unused data rollover. Afrihost only does rollover on topup data that you bought, not the monthly bundle.

South Africans are just too brand loyal to change or look for alternatives. So let the companies fleece them for all their money.
I call it a stupid tax.

But afrihost plus.

Data Cost

I will pay the high cost of data ,but what pisses me of is the lack off reception .I am so sick of hearing congestion , you need a working network for this and no network available ,searching for network.

Vodacom should do something to this .Same as Cellc that relies on Vodacom ,but not even Vodacom can produce.
Don't even talk about ADSL

Thank you
Willie

Telkom still offering business ADSL? Less contention on such a line. It is a few RRR's more expensive than a normal ADSL line.

Problem is in the 'burbs you won't get away with this - DSLAM's will be oversubscribed anyway.

Thing is - they still think that a certain % of users will not connect to said DSLAM/cell tower, but it happen more often than not, resulting in poor performance. In this case they should identify the towers/dslams that are congested and provide more resources to said congested towers.

Out in the country, on Piet Poggenpoel's farm, said cell tower will most certainly not be overloaded with cellphone connections, unless a lot of people decide to congregate in that area on the same day at the same time....

The other option is dual sim phones. Alas people are too addicted to their iPhones and Galaxies.

Exactly. Dual sim with cell c 200 gig for R2000 valid for 365 days in 1 slot and regular voice contract sim in the other.

Cell C is definitely worse when roaming as well.
