Does anyone know what I can pickup a 4 port or higher USB Hub that outputs 1A per port?

Story...
I have multiplugs all over the place mainly for the 2 pin sockets for chargers for my devices. It is getting ridiculous now so last night I pulled out my 7 port Vantec powered USB hub to see how it would handle my devices.
It works pretty well but pushes out 466mA per port. While this is okay I would prefer 1A ports to match the original chargers. Hence the need for a higher powered hub.
Tablets take forever to charge at half the current.

Anyone know of any and where I can get them?

EDIT01: Just tried the iPad3 on the hub. No go. Stupid thing won't charge on such low current. To be expected though. Apple won't just work like everything else does. *sigh*
Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Asus Transformer and HTC Flyer all charging just fine. Just slow.

EDIT02: After some research it appears the iPad requires 2A. I assumed 1A as that is what my S3 reported when charging using the iPad plug. Oh well... Let's hope it will charge at 1A - if I can get a 1A hub.

I'd also like to know. I currently use 1A plug adapters. (What a mission to find those in SA. Eventually got a few from dealextreme.com).
I'd love to have a 4 or 5 port USB hub plugged into mains and just charge everything off that. I know tablets do sometimes need more power, but that still leaves loads of other devices and gadgets.

Just this past Saturday I was thinking about the exact same solution. You can go for a USB3 hub, as it is suppose to give 850mA per port, but it will still be to low. Both my iPad3 and Nexus 7 comes with 2.1A chargers, so I would ideally want at least that per port.

I were thinking about getting a usb hub and a decent 5V supply and changing the internals if necessary.

I have been looking quite a bit. Found a 7 port USB3 hub on BidOrBuy but as you say, current still too low.
I think this Roccat Apuri is the best so far. 2A per port will work on all our devices I reckon.
My Nexus 7 charging on my current 7 port hub at 466mA. So while slow, at least it charges. Just the iPad3 is not interested. Does nothing when plugged in.
Keen to get the Roccat Apuri for iDevices and tablets, and use the current 7 Port 466mA for cellphones and stuff if there are no ports available on the Roccat. Think that could work.

Just waiting for Chris to respond with a link. If he does not I will grab one from Titan Ice or iKonic. Regardless, I want to order today. Need to retire this mess of multiplugs here :)

I found this: http://www.ikonicit.co.za/roccat-apuri-active-usb-hub-with-mouse-bungee.html

Post that directed me: http://www.overclock.net/t/884457/anybody-know-of-a-good-high-power-usb-hub

Outputs 2A per port!!!

The mouse bungee things looks stupid but will put up with if for the convenience of the 4 * 2A USB ports. Price is decent too.

Just looking to see if there are any alternatives.

It seems to me that someone has misunderstood it. It is NOT 2A per port. There are 2A available that is shared among all ports. So if you have only one device, it will have access to 2A, otherwise it will only have a portion available to it.

Correct you are. Further reading on the tech specs specifically states 500mA per port.
*sigh*... Should read more instead of letting excitement win the day.

Seems like that 7 port USB3 hub at BidOrBuy is the best option then currently.

Afaik said devices check what they are connected to to see if it supports "Fast charging",thats why there are mods and cables to fool the devices to fast charge on non-official chargers

Ya, but if the power aint there in the first place, you can't charge fast.

Why not just replace the powersupply of the hub with a stronger supply?

I was under the impression that most powered USB 2.0 hubs will only supply a maximum of 500mA per port. The port usually shuts down if you exceed this to prevent damage. I think that you are supposed to use a splitter cable which connects to multiple ports if you require more power or alternatively just use a high current 5V USB power supply with or without a suitably modified hub (with the controller board removed and the ports rewired in parallel).

Cool, some useful info there. I didn't know about HDCabling.
So are you saying if we want it we gotta build it ourselves?

Nah, the hub's electronics can only supply a certain voltage per port. In fact a stronger power supply may even blow it.
See Yotch's explanation for more.

Maybe you could e-mail HDCabling to see if they can suggest something better. You could also purchase a cheap hub and disconnect the controller board and wire all of the sockets in parallel to act as a multiple output USB power supply and not a hub. I have seen some Chinese 4-port hubs at the local Excitement Store for ~R29 similar to the one in the link below. Take a look at www.dx.com to see what else might be available. Individual USB sockets/DC power sockets are available from Otto, Mantech, Rabtron, Sybaritic etc.
