Hisense LCD TV

Looking at a free one on MTN?
A mate of mine got one a short while ago and recons its better than his Samsung. Apparently the engine is really good on it.

I know the Samsung 'B' series are considered one of the best LCDs of 2009. I chose my 'B' over a Bravia.

In a nutshell, doubt its better - but if it's close IQ wise and has the warranty - why not?

I don't know =/ my moot point when it comes to LCD:

Korean (Samsung etc)= Japanese (Sony etc) <<<< Chinese (Hisence)

I have 2 42" Hisense LCD units that I got from HI-FI Corp (I hire them for functions). They are OK but I think I still love the Samsung's clarity and colour reproduction. Also, mine does not have audio out which bugs me a little. 16X9 scaling (zoom) is a little crude compared to the Samsung version but on native 16x9 and HD its fine. HD is actually very nice. One thing I found though that it probably true for most LCD's......when using the composite video in for DSTV the image looks really cr@p. By feeding component in the image improved significantly especially while watching the IPL cricket, HDMI is obviously ideal.

You cannot compare the Hisense to Samsung/Sony/Pioneer/Panasonic... when it comes to picture and most notably the build quality. However, I have to say that the Hisense 42" HD delivers plenty of video/audio connections, USB ports, a good multimedia player.. I bought 2 of the 42" High Def ones for R 6500 each and I do certainly not regret it. In the lounge I use a Pioneer 50", therefore I have a direct comparison when it comes to quality. But of course there is also the financial difference.

I would say Hisense is not a bad buy considering how cheap they are.

Very true, it definitely depends on what connection you use. Composite certainly not ideal.
