Does anyone have a hisense lcd?
Is the W57 series hisense has good as equivalent sony, lg or samsung?

Comparing th samsung, sony, LG and this?
The LG LD460, ( and Samsung C530) and the Hisense W57 are R1000 difference and the sony R2000
Does it justify spending more?

The Hisense will be the same for HD stuff like HD rips/PS3/Xbox/PC, but the "branded" sets will win when it comes to standard definition stuff, like most TV. I would say you are going to be best off with the Samsung LA32C530. Its SD quality is acceptable. It also has the benefit of a media player via USB.

It really depends on what you want the TV for.

I would go for a Sinotec if you looking at budget.
SD quality does not look too bad and HD stuff is mooi.

I have a 42inch Full HD Hisense Tv. One of the best investments ever, SD and HD looks fantastic on it

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

I have the 32" and love it. It was the best R3K ever. We watch mostly TV on it in the bedroom but BlueRay movies are great and its more than enough for the PS3 (BFBC2)

EDIT: Oh, and mine came with a wall bracket, even better

For the extra grand I would definitely go for a brand name, Samsung comes to mind.

I read a lot other international forums where HiSense was rated above Samsung. Its just in this country we consider the brand to sub-par. But then again it all depends on size - R1K more on a 32" vs 1K more on a 50", big difference. Also are you paying R1K more for Full-HD vs HD-Ready, can also make a difference.

Then again the OP was comparing the HiSense to entry level products from other brands - I would then stick to HiSense, the entry level brand leader.

Thats interesting to know, I always thought it was on par with Logick or Sinotech. Will be keen to check some out in store.

i am normally known to my friends as someone who analyses and researches to nth degree before buying something. however i just bought the 46" Hisense LED for R10800 this weekend. not sorry at all for this purchase. i think it compares to LED's selling for R15k. basically was looking at buying a 46" LCD and the normal brands was selling at about R9k. an extra R1.5k for LED was definately worth it. some settings allow u to improve the normal LCD response issue when watching sports and it makes a difference.

HD content is just fantastic.

You don't have a LED - you have a LED-LCD. LED edge-lighting, same LCD matrix technology and therefore picture quality, although LEDs can go brighter.

It's important to refer to things correctly, so as to not perpetuate marketing hype/gimmick.

Enjoy the TV though. Sounds like it's a decent one. I would wonder how it performs at SD TV though, compared to the more well known brands.

Just using laymans terms. i know LED uses LCD technology, but its reasonably more expensive and most people refer to it as LED. LED is NOT only edge lighting, but also full array.

I think the people who use these sites for advice are normally not the technically savvy people, so keeping it simple is sometimes better.

It performs fine with SD, as long as using good cabling. mine is permanently plugged in via HDMI to the HDPVR, so the signal/picture is actually very good. some DSTV channels actually appear almost HD like.

Your LED-LCD is edge-lit. Full array-LED-LCDs are very expensive, and quite rare AFAIK.

And the layman is the one we should be protecting from misinformation. Laymen interpret "LED" as "LED". It's very easy to discern the difference, while keeping the talk very simple.

Good to know. HDMI does make an incredible difference to SD channels, that's for sure.
