Hi Guys,

I just had my Hisense 50M5010UW replaced under warranty and I was given the current model which is a 50A7100F.

My issue is that I cant find a way to turn off smooth motion anywhere on the unit. I could change this setting and turn it off on the previous unit. I tried changing the source to HDMI, as I thought maybe Netflix was blocking smooth motion settings, but still no joy. It's not under expert settings and there is no advanced settings tab on picture settings.

Has anyone seen this before. If I can't turn it off then I really dont like this TV.

Hopefully someone knows the answer.

A picture of the settings might really help.

Um....as someone who is literally going to Makro tomorrow to get this exact model TV, what is smooth motion and why is it bad??

So basically it is supposed to reduce motion blur but actually ends up giving you what they call the soap opera effect. What happens when this setting is enabled on Netflix and other media that streams at 24 frames per second is that it causes the picture to judder or ghost a bit.

Ideally, you want to be able to turn the motion smoothing off completely.

Wonder if I shouldnt look for this setting on the display model in the store. If I cannot find it, I will rather not buy it.

The model you replaced was a mid range, this one is entry level, the menu doesn't look more advanced than my older 2015 model.
What you could attempt to do is go to sound balance and type in 1969,this will bring up a green M on the top left/right of the screen. Go to menu and it should be the Expert Menu.

Thanks for the info. They swapped it and the price was higher than what I paid for the previous TV so I didn't think it would be worse. I got into the expert menu by following your instructions but no SMR setting there either.

Yep, they gave you their lowest 4K entry TV. No SMR and No local dimming. I would ask for a better TV.
My Q8600 shows it like this:

Fudge, that means it's basically not controlable, get them to replace like for like the M5000 was mid tier not entry level.

I was looking at getting 55A7100F model, any alternative around the same price as the 55A7100F? All I want is a 55", uhd, android with excellent image quality.

If you want built in android with excellent image quality your best bet is to go for a Sony.

I'm on a tight budget, unless if there is screen I can get without built in android around the same price as the hisense and add an android box.

I've not had 2 65" Hisense tellys that I've returned due to issues with the backlight. The 1st one had dark corners (about 2cm down from each, 0.8cm wide) and the replacement one now has issues darker bars vertically down the sides. If I watch clips with solid colours, some colours show a darker rectangle around the panel.

What's weird is that it's hard to notice under normal TV watching conditions but now that I know the backlight is shiitty on some areas, it's nearly impossible not to notice it now.

Which 65"? There are quite a few models.

It's the 65A7200F, specifically. I had it exchanged on Friday afternoon and this panel has the exact same issue.
That is one of their entry level products, it might just be how the panels are :(

It's quite difficult to find a TV in this size, or larger, that has Android TV as well as things like HDR/Dolby Vision/100hz panel.

I've had my frustrations with Samsung's Tizen O/S so that's not an option. Do you perhaps have suggestions on options?

I wouldn't base my decision on the OS running on the TV, as if it gets to old I would just replace it with a TV stick/box. But so far even my 3 year old Hisense on Vidaa is still fine for Netflix and stuff.
