Hit-and-run accident

Jeez, don't know how you could live with yourself.

I hit a guy with my car a few years ago, the last thing I thought of doing was just to carry on driving.

Unfortunately the picture was apparently taken with the same camera they use for UFO sightings, or we could have just read the number plate.

Story seems strange, there were other people in the car and they didn't think of taking the number of the van that just mowed down their dad/husband??

Its happens so quickly.... its all over before you look the car is gone.

That car went past at over 100km/h

Its shocking that no other cars reported the incident though. The guy with the dash cam was 3 lanes across and he saw it, but other cars next to him did nothing.

The pic was taken from a video captured from the dashcam of a vehicle driving in the fast lane (the alleged perp was in the slow lane).
So you are not going to get much better resolution out of that.

I'm talking about the people in the car that stopped to help (the victim's family). They would have seen everything clearly.

Pity we don't have those cameras they use in CSI yet, we could have got the reflection of the drivers face off a piece of glass that had fallen on the side of the road. :p

Yes I'm also talking about them.

They would have seen the car if they were expecting it to run in to him. I doubt they did.... also after the incident they would have been freaking out about their murdered father and not looking at the licence plate of a car that just few past.

Someone went into the back of my car. I got out and this person quickly reversed then drove off from a complete standstill. Even with all that time I had to think and observe I was only capable of repeating the number plate 2 or 3 times in my head to memorize it before it was out of sight. Without any other distraction - for instance distress of a family member on the ground. And I have 20/20 vision. And I'm a gamer with good reaction times (theoretically :D)

Your expectations are a bit much :p

Looks like a business delivery vehicle, which is a good thing as he'll probably have to explain the damage to his superiors.

Hopefully they'll put one and one together when they notice the blood splatter on the bodywork.

I hope they got the ****er?

I think this is just outside the area of the e-toll gantries unfortunately.

If he was coming or going from the N1/N3 he may have gone through a gantry, so they should at least cross-reference all white vw vans in a matching time period, but if there are a few they'll have to physically check them for damage.

Yeah, Sanral will get right on it, I'm sure.

I managed to trace her down yeah. Minor damage to my car in the end with no expense (Just needed to bend a bracket back and refit my bumper) but I phoned her just to make a point about it :) She admitted to panicking in the moment - not sure if I believe - but not much more I could have done given the minimal damage and word against hers / no witnesses.

Interesting to note that I just walked into a detective's office with my accident report (No actual proof of damage/incident) and I walked out with her name, phone number, home address, work address, work number etc... Quite scary.

And a starting point would be to check the footage around that time of the N1 gantry cameras hopefully the idiot was driving from that direction and had been captured before. This is one use of those cameras i'd fully support.

PS: Not paying for frigging tolls
