Howdy,

I don't have an internet connection at my place, is there any way I can find just HL2 ep2 and/or the original Half Life 2 game..??
I've played ep1 but not the original number 2..

Thanks..

Why not just buy the orange box? For R300 you get HL2, Ep1, Ep2, TF2 & The most awesome puzzle game ever: Portal. And you can give Ep1 away via the steam gift feature.

If you buy HL2 & Ep 2 it would cost the same.

PS: Best would be to buy it online via steam, get all the updated files from a friend, register it and then play using off-line mode.

well no, either way you will need a inet connection to activate the game....Unfortunately...You could get a cracked version wich i guess would bypass the online activation.

Yeah but he doesnt have a internet connection.....You could get the orange box, but then you will need a internet connection initially to set it up, once its set up I think you can use it in "offline" mode.

You can use it in offline mode.

You just have to wait for it to ask you to go into OFFLINE mode... which on my PC sometimes takes forever.

Yeah but installing it will require a connection then you can use it in offline mode

I don't have an internet connection at home! You need one to even get to OFFLINE mode..

Um, downloading from steam would cost me I don't even KNOW how much in bandwidth...

So it looks like my answer is no, ..yay, !@$#$ steam and allthat !@#$

If you can, try connecting your cellphone to it, using that as a connection to the internet (GPRS), that is what I did the one day when my DSL was down.

It downloaded and uploaded something like... 1mb or something.

Then the game worked at least.

They only sell Episode 2 by itself through Steam... It doesn't come on a disk. You'd need to get the Orange Box to get an actual DVD, but even then you'd need to activate over the internet and download quite a few updates before you could play it.

You'd only have to do this once-off, though. You could play it in "offline mode" thereafter.

The updates wouldn't be insane. Maybe 50MB at a stretch, if you install it off the Orange Box DVD. Steam itself isn't big.

F!@k needing an internet connection to play a game. They are so retarded.

I read somewhere that the updates where like 500MB +

Yes, I saw it on the Steam forums...

For Team Fortress 2, maybe, but that's still a stretch.

You won't need TF2 if you don't have internet anyway, so that's kind of moot. The other games in the Orange Box don't need much updating.

Portal is awesome, btw. A very good reason to buy the Orange Box - even if you won't play TF2.

That's Nashua ad is awesome, btw. :)

Online distribution is the future, like it or not. So if you're not on it, you should not be complaining.

Though, Steam has made it so easy for those that suffer with internetlessness. Ask a friend to make you a backup (with all the latest patches), restore the backup on your PC then connect to the internet using GPRS, activate said copy. Disconnect and play.
