Hogan says PBMR plug has been pulled

If you saw who the directors are and people steering that project, you'll put a foot your mouth. might be a reflection of white incompetency. those people were so arrogant "because they had the skills and qualifications", that they thought they were indespensible. It was good for the government to pull the plug on that project because this country's money was being used and in the end a few 'white' service providers would have reaped in the cash.

So Two out of the 5 is white, not just white but a fair bit. Tell me whom is the service providers you talk about?

Please put your race cards away and discuss the topic at hand. R9billion wasted by fatcats that certainly won't starve because of this decision. Our money is being thrown away at every venture.

Makes me sick. So much more could have been done with this money.

At least the decision was made to pull the plug.
We need grass roots development more than high technology development.
SASOL is possibly an exception, but, also at a great cost.

Yes, I agree that it was the correct decision to make. I am looking at figures and trying to guestimate when the red flags went up indicating that things were going South and how much money was wasted between that time and this decision. Red tape delays are huge money wasters. Everybody p*ssy footing around trying their best not to destroy their reputations at what costs? It is sick.

Such a shame. Amazing technology and some truly brilliant people involved, but with top management appointed for all the wrong reasons and impossible BEE targets considering the subject matter, the writing was on the wall a long time ago.

As is the case with most of these financial Titanics.

I will be interested to see what Noseweek will dig up on this if they do dig at all.

Off Topic: Where have all the trolls gone?

What were the BEE targets?

I was partly involved in the numerical modelling of the Nuclear Reactor Design and most of the guys there are very competent people with PhD's. But the lead-times for this project have been slipping since 2002. The amount of skills lost is going to be staggering. Hopefully most of these guys can find jobs elsewhere.
