Hi Guys

does anybody know the time it takes to be put into the holding pool? I understand its 21 business days. My only concern with this is, that from a billing perspective how it all falls into place with Telkom and the new ISP.

Any thoughts from those who have moved their lines as to the process?

Also wanted to ask the same question and another thing that i asked the Telkom shop if the DSL Line will be cut off while in Holding pool, which they assured me it doesn't and one still has DSL access while in Holding Pool.

Can anyone confirm this ?

You wont be cut off... My only issue with this is timing, and when exactly one needs to fo this, without being billed twice.

It can take up to 21 days to be placed in the holding pool.
Once in there,Telkom suspends your billing(not service) for 7 days. They send you an SMS to idicate that it is now in the holding pool.
In these 7 days, your new ISP has to request service migration onto their billing profile.
Once actioned(by OpenServe) the ISP billing begins(OpenServe billing ISP). ISP then starts billing you.
If the ISP takes too long,Telkom soft suspends the service, therefore ISP has to act on the SMS you recive indicating its ready for migration.

The last next invoice you receive from Telkom is a pro-rata on those days it was still in service up until the holding pool.
Not sure how your billing works with your new ISP

Does the new isp handle the move to holding pool or do i need to request it via telkom ?

so im still in 2 minds about moving my line to the holding pool. Is there any reason not to? The only reason i kept my line with TI is because of the integrated data sim. But now that they have taken that away, its time to move and find cheaper alternatives

Please excuse my ignorance, but, what is a holding pool?
Far as I understand it (from reading this thread), when you port an ADSL line, it goes in the holding pool (send there by old ISP). From there the new ISP request it transferred to them.

Edit: the holding pool is where the line is with Openserve, not any ISP

Well its Adios to Telkom for now. Cancelled my 100 gigs data, and sent in my form for my dsl line to be moved to the holding pool.

When I moved from TI to Crystalweb.
I signed up with CW .Submitted my termination of my Telkom adsl services (check your billing for the adsl services and line) reuest a ref.no and follow up on the number. On your termination form specify the date.If you don't get a ref. no. it will not happen.
Telkom will terminate and send the owner an sms indicating that the line has been moved to the holding pool. Once you receive the sms inform your Isp to accept from from the holding quque.
A few notes.
The line errors faults will need to be managed by your Isp.Telkom do not like requests from the owner of the service. If you are experiencing errors on the service you will have to complain to the ISP.

The line can still remain with Telkom but data can be from the ISP. In this case you can complain to Telkom of poor service so the interaction is between you and Telkom

I had a problem with my line where the service was down and was restored to a 256k from a 2meg .Telkom was never able to restore it to its former state with the response that my location was too far from the exchange.I then rushed for my fibre service to installed and terminated my Adsl service with CW/Telkom.
Telkom are now pulling their fibre via overhead cables a bit late though.I don't know what is stopping the vandalism .
