Hole in my microwave

I have a Russel hobs microwave oven, functionally all good but I just realized today that there is a hole at the back of the oven. The metal sheet got rusted and while I was cleaning it, managed to make a hole.
It's a perfectly working microwave and it's a pity that I have to throw it away, so I was just thinking if it's okay to get it fixed? or can it be even fixed?

I loved thst miniseries, literally sat and watched all of it in one go. Some through squints as I'm squeamish but loved it nonetheless

Inam almost tempted by all those videos of converting a microwave into a spot welding machine. I might just do that... has anyone tried it ?

Still be careful with microwaves though. Some magnetrons contain a ceramic insulator made out of beryllia. Pretty nasty stuff.

Put thick folded foil over the hole, and tape it in place with masking tape. Call it a day.

No, definitely not.
Foil can ignite in a microwave... And aluminium isn't healthy regardless.

Then that rules out any repairs, outside of replacing it with an OEM part. If the hole is in a plastic material remove it an use some epoxy to fill the hole, if its metal...

Then what about using plumbing solder and some copper plate and soldering it on.

What is wrong with aluminium? We use a lot of it in the oven. What should I look out for?

I heard a story online, this guy briefly worked in a takeaway shop where the owner didn't have time to start/stop the microwave all the time.

SO instead the owner cut a hole in the front so he could just leave it running while sticking his hands in to add/remove dishes.

Big brain move!
