Holiday is over, lets strike

face the reality,

from others, the salary can be as low as R800 a month, work for 10/7/365.

my workers have min R1500 a month + holiday + lunch time + bonus. I am already a good boss. (compare to the others :p)

Oh you give them lunch time too? Wow. By your standard, then even those who earn R800 are better than those who are unemployed, and then they are better than those forced to work as slaves in textile factories, and those are better of than those sold as sex slaves, and so on and so on. You're always better than some or other bottom feeder, doesn't change the fact that you're a shark.

Youre lying to yourself. If you compare yourself to those worse then yourself then you're just looking to appease your conscience.

People earning R0 is more than willing to work for R800 and farmers and I know of farmers who had decline those offers. All these small towns all falling apart because the population on the farms is dwindling, because farmers who follow the law can't afford many workers. Farming in general is too much of a gamble, for workers to expect R150. Unless those farms are super high tech, can control the weather etc.

There needs to be a minimum and recommended wage. I'm pretty sure a jobless young unmarried man, would be happy with R50 a day, if that included food and accommodation. A place to start anyways, then they could raise the minimum as he gained experience until the recommended is reached. Right now it's almost impossible to start somewhere.

That said, I also know farmers who pay some of their workers R150 or more, but those are very loyal hard working and honest workers which are even considered as family friends. They won't stay quiet when the other workers are stealing from them or plotting to steal.

the reality is, we have no choice. do you understand that?

as an employer I am willing to pay R15000 a month to the workers, in fact, it is not possible.

in the economic environment like in SA, we can afford to pay R1500 a month it is already very good. If 2013 the economic still in downhill, we may retrench more workers even they are willing to have lower salary.

I saw too many companies close down and runaway (not pay their workers). companies are now facing "live or die" situation, either everyone has something or all people go home to sleep. your choice?

This is only true for a small percentage of businesses. I am out in the business world everyday and unless you are speaking of a specific industry I am not exposed to then things are not nearly as bad as all that.

Its just another excuse.
