Hollywood's worst casting decisions?

Also, and I know some people might feel triggered, any actor that played a race-swapped character.

How about a real life person being race swapped in a NASA movie.

Obviously they wouldn't swap a black person for white, so it was the other way around.

Not really a traditional movie but rather an play for people to watch online during covid lockdowns. But yes I've mentioned before how rediculous it was to race-swap a real-life, living person. Even for a fictional play.

And the reason they did it was just so that they could make the Apollo 13 mission about racism. They felt like they couldn't make part of the plot about racism if all astronauts were white like the real astronauts the characters are based on lol.
.

Saw something pop up on my IG feed that both Gene Simmons and Nick Nolte were considered for the role of John Matrix in Commando before they went with Arnie.

That is actually a very interesting post only about white actors for some reason whereas I'm against all race-swapping. Are you only against white actors?

And I'm not against James Bond going undercover as a Japanese man the same way I'm not against black people going undercover as "White Chicks™" lol. Nothing wrong with either of those at all. I mean why would anyone be against someone going undercover?

And as for a white actor playing Dr No who has a white father and Chinese mother, would it have been totally ok if the actor was Chinese instead? Even though Dr No is half-European? Or does that only work on way?
Agree with most of that list.

Who plays Coleman Silk though? Michael Jackson literally tried to turn himself white, so I suppose a black actor with clown white should have portrayed him, and in the case of Soul Man, why would you want a black actor portraying the role of a white dude doing blackface?

Another near miss.

Will Smith was asked to star as Neo in The Matrix. He refused.

What were the Wachowski brothers thinking. All other casting was spot on.
While I agree that he was wrong for the role, I think it was more about him being a bankable star. He had come off Independance Day and Men in Black. They probably hoped that people would give the Matrix a chance just because he was in it, thankfully he wasn't needed.

Things like Helen of Troy and Snow White are mythology and don't require race "accuracy" to make their point
when the literary works that created those characters describe them one might want to consider casting to match

Helen of Troy is described by Sappho and other post-Homeric sources as having golden hair and blue eyes ...

Snow White is a lot more direct, described in the original story as having "skin white as snow", I mean that's where the title comes from, you can't race swop out of that one ... to be fair though the actress being an annoying, entitled, woke brat mattered far more than her race in the end

back to the thread's question: Ben Asslick, in anything he ever starred in, especially Batman!

Ok so you are 100% ok with casting Michelle Mosalakae (pictured below) as Snow White but not a tanned white actress?
If a media company in any country with a not white population wants to make a show about Snow White do they need to import a pale skinned actress? Is that the expectation? How exactly does this work in your mind globally?
Do you not see how weird you are being?
Do you not see how little this matters?
Why do you not apply these same standards universally?

The point of Snow White was her beauty. Same as Helen of Troy. If you insist on linking white skin with the concept of beauty you are just blatantly racist. Which you are. Just because the original author had racist/classist/misogynistic beliefs originally does not require us to preserve those beliefs in the present to share in the stories created. You don't own or control stories.

And there emerges the crazy, leftist, social justice warrior.
