Home Affairs can render some services when "the system is offline"

Half off-topic but yeah, Linkedin insists on verifying me with Persona which requires an NFC passport (which as you pointed out, does not exist)

Any idea how are other SA peeps verifying their profile?

No idea, but it's embarrassing that South Africa still doesn't have a biometric passport. Even Zimbabwe has biometric passports.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Who needs that when Zim citizens can simply walk across the border with no passport

I guarantee you they are paying R20k+ pm for that 2mb line. It's supplied by CadreISP.
R40k per month. I know. And they refuse to go Business Fibre. Unfortunate but true.

Long overdue that the ANC found themselves facing a class action suit by the people of this country, it makes me sick to my stomach that they are still in power considering what they have allowed on their watch. People forget that Ramaphosa was vice president while the Zuma regime was committing crime against humanity,... well the people of this country anyway. Only a fool trusts someone who has already stolen from them.

I do that for 10% of your price and still make a profit.

Don't pay for "enterprise SLAs" if you are using multiple redundancies. The sum of 5 cheapies is far greater in reliability terms than using 2 enterprise lines, but exponentially cheaper.
Agree mostly, but fibre in some areas without FTTH is very expensive. Plus there is no point in getting two connections, if they share a common backhaul connection somewhere.

When I went to go fetch my passport earlier this year at the FNB branch in the Grove I had to wait because "System is Offline", so either the DHA officials are not trained or there is no backup and syncing after going online. Typical of DHA they made me wait for almost an hour before I eventually asked what the problem is, and then was told, no the system is offline.
