Hi. I need to improve my current sound setup in my home. I don't know much about sound, but have in the past been burnt by speakers that are too small for the space etc. Bit of background:
- family home, so not focussed on teens/early 20s type sound requirements:)
- open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen that covers around 60-70sqm.
- not looking at running too many wires to small surround sound speakers etc - would like something simpler if possible
- want something that can fill the space and have decent sound
- mobile/battery powered not essential.
- wireless / app integration etc definitely preferred - if I can run my Youtube Music or spotify directly from the system without needing to broadcast from elsewhere (or otherwise simple connectivity) that would be ideal.

We don't have a TV (by choice) so assume nothing in place at this point except a few PCs etc. What would you do? What would you get? What should I avoid?

Seriously appreciate any input!

Looks like an awesome system but possibly a bit too much for what we need, considering there's no gaming, TV, etc happening?

I've looked a bit at Sonos. The advertised ones (Takelot) are Sonos 1; on the Sonos website it looks like Sonos 2 is now available. Does this all work well in SA without VPN etc? Is Sonos 1 ok, or am I making a mistake of buying something that will soon be too old?

depends on budget

can get someone to come automate a system where the amp is hidden and speakers are built into your ceiling and so on

or can just go with a smaller soundbar wireless type set u

polk does also have a smaller soundbar that sounds awesome

I bought a 400W Sony 5.1 soundbar system that comes with a soundbar, 2 smallish satellite speakers and a sub for 3k. The satellite speakers are wired and meant to be placed behind the listener but I couldn't be arsed so I merely placed them next to the TV. I don't get surround sound because of it but it doesn't really bother me.

I've been happy with them in a small room. I'm sure you'd be happy with most soundbar setups in the 3-6k range.

Anyone got the Samsung HW-Q600C soundbar?

I want an all in one solution, and the sub being wireless is a plus.

@ R5550 on promotion, this seems like a good deal.

Just need to measure for clearance, as I have an LG CX, and the stand is quite low.

R4999 from Makro

Quite an immediate upgrade from the standard TV speakers.

Even it’s small sub is a massive upgrade
