Home Automation - Smartkit

Understood,

Shelly dimmer is another option for lighting, (load capacity of 200 watts - that's alot of LED lights and well 4 x 50 watt incandescent bulbs for those who still have these)

Here's a video sent from a user in Durban, using commands with the latest Google nest wifi point.

:D is cool!

Hi there,

We have applied and is pending, by putting that pin on the continent of Africa would be great for SA.

Please support ShellySA during the transition process.
Our intention is to give the very best tech support to all things IoT involving Shelly, so please afford us the chance.

I have noticed that the widgets on Android 10 on a Samsung note 9 is not working properly. It does not update with the current status.

I.e. blue ring shows but the actual switch is off

Good luck, several companies have been in communication and have been trying for years to properly certify Shelly.

Unfortunately it seems the only option is to risk import without Type Approval and an LoA.

What are the risks?
Your shipment could be seized and impounded.

Additionally your house can't get a CoC without ICASA/LOA - and your insurance claim might be refuted.

I'm quite surprised at Takealot - they're usually quite insistent on having proper certifications.

Yes indeed,
- ICASA certification pending.
- RoHS and UL US compliance in place.
Thus far Ivan has been unable to supply us (or another very large company) with the full set of tests for even a single product. We've been asking for at least 18 months.

François as ICASA has told us outright they would not provide Type Approval on any Shelly products without those documents.

But the Sonoffs are ICASA approved right?

Almost all but the newer stuff - as with all government organisations ICASA can take ages to mull over an application.

Edit: the Chinese are surprisingly on the ball when it comes to CE documentation.

Heaven knows how Shelly has a CE certification but can't supply test results to back them up!

One thing to bear in mind with ICASA, is that that each company need to certify the same product.

So, for example, Smartkit will have ICASA on the Sonoff Basic. But if the same Basic is purchased elsewhere, it may not have

Hi phaktza,

We have submitted all substantiating certification and documentation to Independent Communications Authority of South Africa.

Which includes certifications, but not limited to:
- Wi-Fi Alliance
- RoHS, under directive 2002/95/EC
- European Radio equipment directive 214/50/EU
- UL Listing (United States of America)
