Home Automation - Smartkit

Second ultrasonic tank sensor has ****ed out... they obviously can't handle the moisture (it is also coated in silicone) - going to try one of the waterproof ones and see: https://www.communica.co.za/products/bmt-waterproof-ultrasonic-sensor?variant=31238514933833

Waterproof sensor is in - not as accurate as the previous one - it fluctuates all over the show while the tank is filling - I'm now averaging out the sensor over 20 readings which seems to be ok.

Also - the minimum reading distance is far less - so I'm loosing about 10cm of water space.

I'll eventually replace it again with a waterproof one thats more accurate - but - for now its working.

Sounds cool. How did you mount the sensor? And I take it the electronics are outside?

Posted the details a few pages back.

Still need to neaten up the bottom box with the Arduino, but - I'll do that when I add a Sonoff POW or Shelly PM to the irrigation pump.

Assume below Sonoff s85 wall switch for plug would not be allowed in SA?

I don't believe that's a real sonoff product

Its listed in ewelink as a Sonoff.

How I came to google it, hoping they had an SA plug version like the s55.

But nothing found.

Edit cant find it on sonoffs own page

But have a s31

Set up sonoff bridge with sonoff water leak detector. Notification works but could easily be missed.

Any recommended Sonoff/ewelink sirens or other item that I can use to alert me a bit more visibly if my pump fails or cannot cope and floods my basement?

I have a tiny 12 volt, 120dB siren that I switch via a Sonoff Basic from the bridge, makes an astonishing racket. Just set it up as a scene in eWeLink.

Can also link up pretty much any light source to flash, if you want a visual alert as well...

Connected google mini to smart bathroom lights.

Kids loving it. But funny to hear them thank google

Hopefully install my wifi light switches tomorrow.

Hey!!!!
I have exact same setup but with a Sonoff RF basic. Using a 433 remote to turn it off if I don't want it to yell at me....

Yep, its a normal Sonoff basic that can work via Google/wWelink/Home Assistant but with added RF 433 functionality:

That way I can just turn it off with the remote on my key-chain instead of searching for an app or waiting for some network connection to happen.

Ordered light switches from Qualitel. They look so pretty.

Ordered a Sonoff with power monitor and when that arrives, I will check with a sparky to have everything installed. Neutrals + Switches and Sonoff + Contactor.

Any feedback.

I have neutral but not enough live wires for my 3 gang light switch. It needs 4 live wires

Will see how to manage that.
