Do you have plug sockets in your house?
Well I don’t see how an enclosed Sonoff mounted on a wall is any different to that and how it constitutes kids playing near wiring any more than a plug socket being open to them.
And no they weren’t anywhere near the Sonoff or it’s wiring itself. I suspect they pushed the toy box up against the button for extended period so it reset after 40 seconds or whatever the interval is.
First come, first served. Let us know how it works...Thanks guys... Looks a bit like an alien/sea creature...

Thick enough gauge and only enough of the tips cut off to enter the chocolate block there isn’t really much to make it unprotected.
Certainly more so than any open plug socket which prying fingers can get to or most electric devices in the house.
Really not something that concerns me more than anything else as a parent.

I want to order a POW R2 and an iFan02... but I've had issues trying to flash the current ones i have due to not having the cable, and also a crap ton of Corporate security nonsense on my PC so would want them flashed to Tasmota before I get my hands on them

Seems like the network needs to be down to use it. Yesterday morning Ewelink showed 'network unavailable' and all my devices were down. I enabled Lan mode and it enabled all my Sonoff devices, except for the dual ones. Worked perfectly offline.

Good news bad news post.
Good News:
Bought the Open Garage controller. Quick and easy install. Integrates easily into Home Assistant. Its the one thing where i think ill use google assistant as i can open the garage as I am coming around the corner.
Bad News:
Xiaomi Motion sensors, you get what you pay for. They are a pain in the balls. As the gateway starts to fill up, syncing new ones becomes a hit and miss event. Reaction time is inconsistent, can be near instant, can be a few seconds, annoying while waiting for a light to run on. Then magically, single sensors go offline for a few hours at a time, dunno why but it just happens. This issue seems to be shared amongst many users. Not sure if its the gateway or the sensor to blame. I'll see if it gets better with a software update, if not I'll try find something a little more reliable. Why on earth are there no motion sensors which run POE? I would far prefer this to any wireless tech.
On the other side of the fence, the Xiaomi buttons and temp sensors are pretty much flawless.

Since my TH10's are missing in action somewhere on the way from China I was thinking a cleaner solution would simply be an independent Temperature Sensor.
I love the Xiaomi stuff but it seems you need a special gateway to make them work? So what would my options be?
Or how hard is it to simply add one to the Sonoff Basic? A custom one would certainly look neater than the externally wired one on the TH10.
A single unit across the side of the house where heaters are would still be more than enough I reckon.

Yeah I believe you do need the gateway. Mostly because the sensors dont use wifi. They probably use some form of RF. There might be a chance they could somehow work with the Sonoff RF gateway, but without knowing for sure, really cant say.
Assuming you talking about the Xiaomi MIJIA Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor, which needs a Gateway HUB.
I believe the Mi use Zigbee but its not universal. https://zigate.fr/ is working on a universal gateway, but its still a way to go.

Nah they are WiFi. You just need the gateway to register them once to Home Assistant was my understanding and then after that you can use their Fake Gateway.
But I didn’t read it in too fine a detail just seemed like work.
