Home Automation - Smartkit

Yup. Strijdom Park - but I'm sure they're everywhere. Was R20 or so
 
I stumbled on a project that connects to the Paradox IP150 module with python - and now can't find it - does anyone perhaps know what/where it is?

I'd like to see if I can't integrate it into my home automation setup.

(I'm specifically interested in detecting open perimeter doors, and turning a light red)

Think the guy is South African. EDIT: He is - same guy that did Alarmin.
 
That looks perfect. I see I had already "starred" it on github but I guess I didn't read too much or it didn't do MQTT before or something.
 
Hopefully play around this weekend - finally freed up a Pi3 from garden irrigation duties :p
 
What's the alternative to OpenHab? Trying to find it to decide between the two.

I've gone through a few of them. Previously used Domoticz and it worked well, but a few months ago switched to OH and have never looked back. A very steep learning curve though but a lot more powerful with rules/schedules/bindings etc. Works well with Alexa too, easy to setup.

Damn...never tried out HA. Looks good though.

I've got a spare Pi, might give it a whirl.

Googling it a bit - seems HA is the better of the two - I'll try both though.

I wouldn't necessarily say HASS is the better of the two - but it's definitely the easiest. Guess it depends on how advanced you intend to go?
