Ok.. That makes infinitely more sense than their printed diagram.... Additional live needed then... Cool

That doesn’t make sense to me.

The light can’t work with only one wire...
 
Im using zigbee2mqtt and also setting up some hardwired zigbee2mqtt routers.
So far so good, super responsive.
 
Right, now that I have a few minutes while I wait for other people to do work, and for stupid computer systems to do work as well :)

I played with the Shelly products this weekend, didn't get around to installing all of them cos I am vaguely OCD about the wiring in my ceiling, and what I had planned and what I need to actually have are slightly different.

I was beyond pleasantly surprised at just how easy they are to get configured on the network. I love the way the app does it all for you basically. Get the Shellys power, give them a few seconds to boot and then Add Device from the app and bobs your aunty and its all added (though I can see that I'm going to have to either extend my IP range internally, or have seperate WiFi networks with different ranges for different use cases).

The switching functionality worked straight out of the box as well, which is a massive WIN as far as I'm concerned, it allows me to install automation on every light in the house and not have a missus that screams and complains at me cos things don't work in the old school way as well.

Even though the units are tiny as fsck, it would be awesome if they either developed some sort of DIN rail mounting solution or had some other option for mounting the little units neatly...

Where are your sourcing the Shelly's?
Much difference in pricing compared to the Sonoffs?

I will be sourcing them from SmartKit when the type approval is all complete

I have a feeling they will be more expensive than the Sonoffs, but just the switching functionality is worth the additional cost for me really.

The ease of adding an external switch?
I've found it relatively easy adding an external switch on the Sonoffs.
I like the idea of a smaller footprint on the Shelleys. Was a mission getting my sonoffs in the light switch cavities.

A wire inserted into the relevant space and tightened up... zero soldering or funny business or anything like that..

Its as close to plug and play as is possible really...

Definitely an appealing quality - I guess I'll weigh up the price versus the benefits when the time comes. Already invested in so much on the Sonoffs getting every light switch wired in and a few other appliances.
I see the Shelly prices aren't that competetive with the Sonoff prices for right now, hopefully they come down somewhat over time.

Is your Sonoff solution aware of the external switches state? i.e. if you turn the switch on/off - does the sonoff know the switch is now on/off?
