Nee fok makes me very glad my alarm had the relay output straight into the SV.

Ive got a Texecom alarm which is about 100000000 years old so my options are limited it seems. Hopefully I will have success :)

Yeah my Spectra was also ancient.

I’m still amazed I got it to work at all.

Man this is something I'd like to do too. My alarm is IDS 805 (sure it's ancient too). Let us know how it goes.
 
Wait wait wait.

So you can only use Home Assistant with Alexa if you have a paid for Cloud account or go through a seemingly **** load of effort to make it work only half as well.

Dead in the water then.

Edit: just check it isn't the smaller Indian 3 pin

You grand parents may have had the old English mini 3 pin plugs?

Edit2: checking the pin positions I don't think it fits old SA 3 pin

What have my grand parents got to do with anything?

I had some PayPal money and bought two so we’ll see.

If it doesn’t fit I’ll simply argue their description was wrong and they need to refund me.

If it works the front will actually be most useful as it can handle a variety of international standards.

Let us know how this turns out. Also, when you do get them, please take photos of the inside, want to see how difficult they will be to tasmotify if the plug fitting works, which looks like it might but impossible to tell from photos alone.

Nope! Incorrect, and it does not cost you a cent.

You simply install the Alexa Media Player addon, and the lines below in your configuration.yaml.


YAML: 
alexa:
  smart_home:

alexa_media:
  accounts:
    - email: !secret amazon_user
      password: !secret alexa_password
      url: 'amazon.com'


The top 2 lines allow Alexa to discover virtually everything in HA that can be switched as a switch device.

The bottom config. allows you to send messages, play routines, etc. on Alexa from HA.

That above can cater for 99% of most what you would need.

The next level after that if you want to delve deeper, is a free Amazon Web Service account. This is where you create your own intents for Alexa, and attach it to Alexa as a custom skill. The AWS is basically the intermediate between Alexa and your HA. It is pretty technical, and I have not found a need to go to that level.


Just another little nugget, the latest version of HA has an Assistant Almond available, albeit still a fledgling, total privacy, no eavesdropping, and is more aware and in tune with your HA devices. :cool:
