I’ve bought from them in the last few weeks - they seem good, deliver pretty quickly, but didn’t reply to emails regarding returns. So if you’re happy with it being a 1 way street, it seems fine.

Until you need to return something? No reply would leave you high and dry?
 
I have a Sonoff Zigbee bridge flashed with Tasmota and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get my Zigbee switches to work.

I have paired the Xiaomi Zigbee Switch and the Sonoff Zigbee Switch using ZHA but it only created a battery entity in HA for both switches.

In the ZHA logs I can see the switch state toggle between 0 and 1 when it's pressed but how do I use this in HA to trigger things?

I see in DrZzs video his switches paired the same way, no entity was created for the actual switch. He didn't get to the part of implementing the switch though.

There is a massive long zha thread on ha forums. Go find out there if your switch (be specific) has been implemented yet in zha.

Currently you using the bridge in zha mode so only the zha people/devs can help you.

Zigbee2tasmota mode works different. I haven't found a guide on this mode yet that is straight forward.

Sonoff switch SNZB-01 (Zigbee) is missing entities

@SteveM363 is right, an entity is not created for a button, because the button press itself is treated as an event. I found that the best solution was to manage the button press events in NodeRed and I got the idea from jimford in this post: Sonoff zigbee button SNZB-01 issue (only in cloud...

Hmmm seems the Xiaomi switch only sends a "click". No double press or long press actions.

With the Sonoff ZB01 you can capture short presses, long presses and double press.

I bought my sonoff stuff from them before without issues.

I want to buy more, just thought in this current kak economic crisis they would be more responsive to potential customers.

I will just buy from another supplier in future

Yeah the no-reply on email doesn't bode well for them, but I still buy from them if the product is cheap enough because their pricing and delivery is good. Eiferer has been good on pricing, delivery and replies. I had to return a sensor which didn't work for my setup and it was easy to communicate and return for a credit.
 
So I've been trying to page through 400+ pages of this thread but just figured I'd ask a couple of questions:

Who has smart light switches installed? (something like these)

I've decided I'm going to replace all the light switches in my place so it will cost quite a bit and I'd like to get it right. At the moment I have a bunch of Sonoff Minis in the switches but it's a bit patchy as not everything is connected and the on/off state of the switch isn't accurate. I'm looking for wifi based switches which will essentially be a swap out with the old switches which are in place now.

  • Which switches are you using?
  • Did you have any issues with fitting them (space issues)? Is the face plate roughly the same size as the switch you replaced?
  • What needs to be in the switch box? From what I've read in this thread it seems that I need 1 neutral and 1 live, with live going out to each light. My switches were originally wired with live only.

    - Testing a Qualitel 2 gang and a 3 gang wifi switch. Smart life app i.e tuya.

    It clicks audibly if you press it, use app or voice and blue is off with red on. So all good.
  • Did you have any issues with fitting them (space issues)? Is the face plate roughly the same size as the switch you replaced?

    - No issues. Yes same size, was pleasantly surprised as it seemed smaller.

    - Yes I had to pull neutral into the switches. Was a loooong, difficult exercise to get it through conduit. Now no space left in conduit.

    But check no neutral eachen. Think eiferer and geewiz stock it.

    Want to test it out.

I’ve replaced all light switches with Sonoff Tx. They mount fine but the outer bezels are a little smaller than your standard switches. So if the room was previously painted without the old switch covers removed, you might have the previous paint visible around the bezels of the Tx’s. In our case, the missus had the great idea of painting the old exposed areas so it looks neat. Also, if you have a rough textured wall, you’ll battle to get them nice and flush. Our walls are smooth, so I was ok there, but I can see how it might be an issue in other cases. Lastly, the fact that it’s a touch interface is a lot less cool in practice than you might think. As mentioned elsewhere, you can’t toggle the switch by feel alone, as you could with traditional switches. This takes some getting used to and, to be honest, I miss the tactile feel of the old switches.

I flashed all IoT devices with Tasmota. So getting multiple use capability per button works very well. And with rules in Tasmota you can link switches together into groups based on how you operate the switch (short press or long press), none of this needs to be set up as automations in HA. This works awesome and it’s instant. Nice and sleek.

Anyway, just a few thoughts on having gone through this process myself

Thanks for the info! I've researched those no neutral ones but it'll probably cost as much for installation as I'll need to install the capacitor at each light (all lights are LED).

Thanks, great info! I'm thinking to go for the Sonoffs too as they seem to be more popular. I would also prefer a tactile smart switch that is compatible with our size light switches, but I don't seem to be able to find any that are local and rectangular shaped like our light switches.

My walls are also smooth, but I will re-paint corner to corner so it blends in well.

The touch interface probably will take some getting used to, but will be an improvement on the current setup where on doesn't always mean on so I have to check if the lights are actually on or off. Not so much of an issue inside, but outside lights are different.

Are you able to flash those OTA while they're mounted in the wall? I'm wanting to get them installed with the original software first. Once I'm happy that it's in and working, I'll then flash them. This is just incase something unexpected happens and I need to return some. Don't want to flash them ahead of time and then not be able to return them.

I actually have no idea if they are flushable OTA, I suspect not to be honest. I bought around 20 of them and just flashed them out the box. It didn’t even occur to me to test them first :) Luckily they all worked (and still do). I had such laggy response when testing with the Ewelink app testing on a basic, that I knew upfront I was going to Tasmotize everything. And I’m glad I did; there’s just so much added functionality running Tasmota. I can write pages and pages...

Just note that to flash them, you’ll have to solder a jumper to a resistor connected to GPIO0. My ftdi adapter has a header on that slips into the programming header of the pcb, so that helps. But yeah, can’t get past that one jumper that needs soldering.

I literally need it because it is the only way to control Wyze cameras.
 
Has anybody flashed these with tasmota?

Qualitel 2 gang and a 3 gang wifi switch
 
I have the Sonoff TX switches and I flashed them all manually with the FTDI adapter. I wonder how easy these would be to do manually?
 
It really depends. My Qualitel switched power monitoring plugs were a breeze. The GU10 downlights was a ball ache. I’ve only done 1 of those, 5 more to go and I’m battling to find the desire to do it.

I have no appetite for taking things apart. As per Paul Hibbert ... great but only if you have the time and inclination, same as HA.

Can any one recommend any other GU10 lights that can be flashed to tasmota?

I just need one bulb to complete the house.
