Home Automation - Smartkit

So yesterday I installed a Sonoff iFan 3 in another ceiling fan.

Not my first rodeo so not a major issue overall, but this being my kid’s room we had bought it with a Bluetooth speaker in (against my better judgement knowing it will sound kak) and I only remembered it after taking it all apart.

The original controller is near identical to the Sonoff and even has an identical casing just no WiFi.

So my question is surely I can just bridge this Bluetooth wire and have it permanently on (the controller relay really just turns the function on and off, the pairing is automatic).

So the question before anything blows up is do I bridge it with Live or Neutral? Logic tells me Live as it’s passing neutral out the other end but I’d rather ask a stupid question than fry something.
 
Also keen to know. I want to install the SonOff iFan 3 into a pedestal fan. Replace the light-switch function with handling the swing function and then bridge the ionizer function.

I'll have to keep the old remote then to turn on & off the on built-in mosquito repellent or find some other solution.

Any other suggestions maybe?

Jeez they really have gone multi purpose with those things.

Would probably need a second Sonoff to manage the mosquito repellent.

But it’s automated the rest of the time for its original purpose.

My guests wouldn't have access to it - have to factor in all the possible eventualities.
 
Been using Sonoff switches for 2 years with eWelink and now it offer integration into Google Home. Have 10 devices around the home from pool to garage light.

Yes he hates my smarthome option Google Home but this is interesting as the Tuya products have zigbee in. With Alexa also incorporating zigbee it is becoming interesting.

I want to put in an alarm system,I want a modern wireless solution with an app.

I require 2 pirs,3 door sensors, 2 smoke detectors,siren, and a way to hookup to an armed response.

Im going to list what I was looking at but really need help here :

1.Yale Home Alarm - https://www.yaleshop.co.za/Smart-Home-Alarm-Kit (not sure if this can be connected to armed response.)

2.Sonoff Range - similar to above but way cheaper (not sure if this can be connected to armed response.)

Neither of those will connect up to armed response.

Armed response need a keybus to connect their wireless radio to, this is something you will find on all Paradox/DSC etc systems, where the keypad connects with a wire to the main control board.

You either have those cheap systems with no armed response, or you go with a proper system to get armed response.

My advice is, call up your favorite armed response company and ask them to do a quote for you on their cheapest wireless alarm system with the above things you want.

Personally, I have a bunch of pirs, door sensors etc, and none of them are useful to me. Most of my early warning is done from the outside beams, where a single beam costs R2k+ before even adding the wireless transmitter.

If security with armed response is important to you, there is unfortunately no cheap shortcut that I know off.
Armed response starts at R500+ a month...(and thats cheap). Not sure why you would want a R2k system with that.

If you really must, go with ADT (I hate them) and get one of their rented alarm systems, which stays their property, but you will have no upfront cost. Or you can opt for a pay per month model where it pays it off over 4 years or something.

Don't cheap out. Get a system and then find a way to have the app on your phone.
 
Never paid R500 for armed response in my life or even close to it.

Currently paying R225 and knocking the socks off the supposed big brand ADT that was utterly kak for not much more.

ADT has a number of app options. One is with alarm.com, other one with HYYP. Not sure of 3rd app option.

External beams best option but expensive.

Bought my system outright. So only paying for armed response. Quite happy although app does once in a while, very rarely nowadays, act up.

Ayeah I think that price is maybe different in the different areas. At least from my experience.
 
I got quotes earlier this year for armed response and my local security company quoted R248 (the black/white/red themed company in Northern Suburbs) for armed response while ADT wanted R350.
 
Mines R425 - which is one of the cheapest local companies. Never bothered with ADT - only had bad experiences with them in the past, and don't recall ever seeing one of their vehicles in the area (although I do see ADT boards)
