Home Cinema Projector..help

I hear you greg, think its just frustration that i cannot buy a expensive one now... Man. there goes my BBQ and the rugby game on a big screen.

I can control the light, there is curtains. Thing is once we have enough money after our renovations that we are completeing now, then we will make those windows so that they open onto a patio area, hence the curtain will go.

Then dont buy a projector at all.

A TV is far more flexible in terms of what it can do, and far less bothered by bright light. With the projector, watching rugby in the middle of the day in summer will get difficult.

Even an expensive projector is going to struggle with bright light I would think. If you were building a home theatre in your basement where there were no windows, I would say projector all the way. But because it is an entertainment area where you dont want the hassle of darkening everything the whole time, just buy a TV. A 55 inch TV is still massive. Buy a HiSense 55 inch TV and you will be happy. Plus you dont have to worry about the globes needing to be changed.

Jip this was what i was thinking, the tv wont be used all the time like my 51" plasma in the TV room. So im Looking Big 55-60 inch Hisense...

Thanks ALL for your inputs, this has saved me from making the wrong decision... much appreciated.

I agree with the posts above. I have one of the top Epson home theatre projectors, and it definitely will not perform well during the day. Projectors are designed for a light controlled room.
You could probably get away with a cheapish sub R6k projector with a special screen designed for day time viewing. Those screens however cost upwards of R20k (eg something like the black diamond screen).

So the safest/cheapest way to get what you want is rather to buy a 50-60 inch TV rather than a projector for daytime viewing.
Good luck!
