Woman faces charges in home circumcision
PORTLAND — A woman accused of attempting to circumcise her baby at home using a box cutter and a pair of pliers faces assault and criminal mistreatment charges.
Keemonta Peterson, 29, of Portland, told police she decided to circumcise her baby at home after reading the Bible. She said she watched some YouTube videos about circumcisions before making the attempt in October, according to The Oregonian.

This lunatic has very good job prospects in the local industry with the approach of the South African initiation/circumcision season. With a few practice runs she will be able to kill her victims on the first try and will definitely offer stiff competition to the indigenous lunatics.

The only drawback, as I see it, is the entrenched South African sexism and male chauvinist attitude but her approach to the Equality Court will produce a favourable result irrespective of the merits or justice of the situation.

I don't really see much difference between what she was trying to do and what every other circumcision doctor does. It's all just genital mutilation for superstitious reasons.

Using Box Cutter and Pliers on your newborn toddler = Instant strike 3 you're out. This baby should be taken away from her permanently. Nothing short of extreme child abuse.

Agreed, although a box cutter is hardly sterile.

Even though theres no point to circumcision she should still have taken him to a doctor.

I think she should practice on her head before she touches any babies'.

A religious nutjob abusing her child because Jesus told her to?
One tiny problem with your statement. That's in the Old Testament. If she knew her Bible, she wouldn't have tried to circumcise her son.

There are health benefits to being circumcised aren't there?
Alleged lower risk of penile cancer and HIV transmission, but I wouldn't take their word for it. Just wash properly and you'll be fine.

Not a single one that cannot be achieved through diligent hygiene.
There are no functional or cosmetic benefits easier.
In fact the risks far outweigh any supposed phantom benefits.
