10. Does the price increase apply to 2025 Black Friday promotions?

Black Friday deals and promotions have been granted a 2-month grace period. Their increase will be effective 01 March 2026.

So people get baited to get a Black Friday Deal then you give them a increase after 2 months.

Is that legal???

Maybe if these was a month to month. But don't they have people taking like 24 and 36 month contracts?
Should the price not be fixed for that term?

It's legal as long as they clearly state in the promotion that this price per month is only for the first x number of months or until date y.

...Don't think there was any indication of a "only for the first 2 months" thing on any Vodacom Black Friday Deals.
Not that I recall seeing anyway.

No I wonder...
If Vodacom can increase the bill on the package you took on 24-months whenever:crying:.
Can the customer during the 24-month term when finding it on a discounted rate to what they currently paying on the same package move to said cheaper monthly price? 🤔

It should state clearly somewhere in the contract whether they can or not. It shouldn't be like say a car or home loan which is linked to prime.

If it is legal or not doesn't really matter, as there is nothing you can do about it.

Yes, the increase did apply previously to Black Friday deals.

The term "24-month" contract only means you're signing up to pay them for the full period. They incease amounts as they see fit, meaning there's actually no benefit to being locked in for the whole period IMO

I did a few calculations to see how much my 100Mbps home internet contract has increased. Took it out in 2023. (Rounded off to nearest whole number)
2023- R499 (R39.96) 8% increase for following year
2024- 538.96 (R59.45) 11% increase
2025- R598.41 (R53.76) 9% increase
2026- 652.17

Next time you take out a 36 month contract, please budget for a 30.495% towards the end of the contract.

I only get around 30% of the speed advertised however in their store in the mall it runs full speed. They dont get back to you when you want to cancel even in the cool off period. I use 30-40% of the cap, So they scoring.

My previous vodacom contract was probably over ten years ago and I was fleeced for phone calls and data. I must say their retentions deal was very very good, but no thank you. Vodacom was the reason for me switching to a dual sim phone after that, thank you.
