Anyone got a good link for a payment calculator - I'm looking for one where if you pay an extra XXX a month then it tells you how much you will save in the long term and how much quicker it will be to pay the total loan back.

I've found a few on the net but can't seem to get any of them to work (unless its just me!)

Don't forget the Time Value of Money when looking at the total amount saved.;)

Thanks for the info - both the above work. I must have had a blonde moment with all the other links I tried.

Hopefully I can bring my repayments down by a few years :)

Didn't know about the loan amortisation thing in excel - will look into it.

Just right click on the "sheet 1" tab or whatever its called, select "insert template", and you'll see it there.

;) Here's a better idea...buy shares. If you buy a few good shares a month say R3000 worth e.g. Sasol Shares. In ten year time you can buy two houses, and pay off your current one:D
