So unfortunate that it wasn't a head shot, and the fact that the home owner is the one that will face the full wrath of the law.

Home owner shoots robber.

"The owner of the house and his son heard the window breaking and went to inspect where the noise came from.

"They saw the robber outside the house and fired a warning shot. The robber threw a brick at them and was thereafter shot in the stomach," he said.

The man was taken under guard to hospital for treatment.

He should have shot the fscker then fired the warning shot!

He is gonna be in crap, gun vs brick.. duh!! i hate criminals but there is a limit

A brick thrown at you can do just as much damage as a bullet.

It would help if the robber was actually in the house and posing some kind of threat when the shot was fired..

Good, now this one should be thrown behind bars and stay there.

The first warning shot should be the sound of your lung bursting as a .45 hollow point rips through your chest. That robber should be re thinking his life. He is luckly the home owners didn't just dump him in the middle of nowhere to bleed slowly to death. Which should have been done. Nothing like a slow 8 hour bleed to make you re-think your life.

Guns should be legal. Just because we cant get them doesn't mean the criminals out there wont. Rather be able to send lead his way once he starts shooting at you.
I doubt your liberal lip wristed ways will save you when that bastard kicks down your down, rapes your children and wife and shots them in the face.
Shoot back.

I just don't get the robber's mindset. If someone is shooting at me then I run...I don't look for a brick to throw.

I reckon in SA the home-owner should be allowed to shot/kill intruders...not ideal from a philosophical point of view, but the unique SA situation makes such high and lofty ideals unrealistic imo.

So many varibles

Throwing a brick at someone could be construed as an assault with a deadly weapon especially after the homeowner fired a warning shot at a criminal who had committed a crime (breaking a window)

It will be interesting to see how the Prosecutor views this

It used to be justification to shoot an intruder or someone committing a crime by first firing a warning shot.
However the law changed and now one can only shoot/return fire under very specific circumstances usually when you've been hit:( because by the time someone pulls a gun on you it's too late to draw.
