Home PC Support

The screenshots is my previous installation. I have not installed norton again. I am running AVG free and zone alarm. That, steam and ms office is the only software currently installed

You have too many people helping you Here. Its never going ot get fixed. Call your local pc store and take it in. Its better than having 6 guys trying to help you over the internet.

My idea was to see how far i can get today and then tomorrow seek for professional help if necessary

Thanks in any casy to all the guys for trying

the problem is due to your graphics card, the drivers are poo.
this is a continuation of the "infinite loop" problem from two years ago, as far as I am aware.

you need the ms service packs for xp installed (sp2)
you also need the latest nvidia drivers.

Windows XP Patch: Fix for STOP 0x0000007E error in aec.sys - KB900485

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/winxp-stop-error-aec.html

Description
This patch for Windows XP fixes a bug in Windows XP that can cause a STOP 0x0000007E error in aec.sys (also called the 0x7E stop error). The full message may read 'STOP 0x0000007e (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) aec.sys'. These parameter values can vary between systems and may look like, for example, 0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF8954384, 0xF8954080.

Don't worry too much about this gibberish, they are not going to help you. However, this patch from Microsoft should fix the problem. The source is a little cryptic, but if you are interested, it is a timing error in the aec.sys file that causes the crash.

Thanks for all the help.

For interest sake the problem was one of the RAM modules. Obviously the test didn't pick it up probably due to the other one workng  My computer works better now with one 512mb than before with the faulty one included.

a beer for everyone:D

That might be a problem here in CT, SAB had to dump 12000L worth of beer because of the power outage.
