Home surveillance system

Also looking at security cameras for outdoor use, but particularly Wi-Fi enabled with internet access via 3g modem (no ADSL/fibre available), and preferably integrated with IFTTT. I like the Hikvision kit but cannot verify whether it works with IFTTT or not.

I have 3 of these, one in Baby Room, Lounge and Patio each.

They go for about R1300. This new model has very good resolution, no issues, very happy with them.

Okay so from what i am reading the takealot setup is not too bad - wired has advantages. I guess i could shop around to get a better price on it.

So now apart from buying the parts, the installation - i am not the most handy around the house - thoughts on getting this installed? Maybe there a recommendations for re-sellers who also do installation - and the combo price might be better then buying the hardware separate and getting a separate installer?

Bumping this. Anybody can recommend re-seller who also does installation?

If you are going to install a system buy the best future proof system that you can afford .
ATM there are many new developments in the CCTV field and it is difficult to keep up .
Blue iris is good i have used it no recorder necessary just a PC best to get cameras that at least HD 108P.
I am on my forth DVR never had the money when i started installing cameras and work with two systems at our social club Hikvision they are good systems .
Get the best frame rate and resolution that you can afford .
A couple of places i buy from https://www.mitabyte.co.za/
If you shop around you will save quite a bit of money especially if you install your self .
If you buy a DVR/NVR buy double the size you actually need because for sure you will add cameras later.

JHB, Midrand
Ok, sorry then I can't help you there cos I am based down south. What I can suggest, and this is something I did a few times. There is a company in JHB called Syntech who sells DVR systems and are dealers so don't sell directly to the public. When we needed CCTV installed at some sites in the north, I asked them if they could recommend any installers in the areas we were looking at. They gave me a shortlist of re-seller/installers and we used some of these guys.

Dude. If you have a cost issue and don't need state of the art (I have Hikvision and Wyzecams)

Go for Wyzecams! They cost around R600 delivered from Amazon (you can buy them for a little bit more expensive on Geewiz). IP WIFI Cameras at 1080. Have person detection, 2 way audio, free cloud storage otherwise just use an SD card etc. I have 3 inside my house at the moment and hikvision outside.

They are great and the community is awesome as the developers listen to the community in term of what they want as new features.

If you want to put it outside you can buy cover for R300 bucks.

Great Community:

Hi

I got myself a Hikvision model HIKVISION DS-7616NI-E2/16P. Almost all my 3rd Party Axis cameras work well on it except 2 an Axis 207 and Axis 216FB these cameras do support onvif Protocal and H.254 Streaming protocol. They only support RSTP streaming. Is there a way to configure these cameras to work with my nvr
