Hi guys

I bought a LG 37" LH50 lcd tv on the weekend and I am very impressed with it. I want to add an adequate sound system to go with the new tv. I am on a budget and only have 5000 to spend. I have been looking at a few home theater systems from Samsung and LG. Can anybody recommend one that is worthwhile and within my price range.

Thanks

Samsung

Samsung HT-BD1250 Blu-Ray home theatre got a very good review on CNET.com

or the samsung HT-TZ325. very nice as well with usb host play so you can plug in your hard drive or usb stick. the sound kicks ass too

Home-Theater-in-a-box is probably a good way to get into home theater if you have a very limited budget, so make full use of your R5k, but get it with the idea of upgrading the components as you go along. Say in a year's time, upgrade the speakers and then upgrade to a good receiver and eventually a DVD player.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I see that House and Home has a special on the LG HB954TB blu-ray system for R6999, which is a very good price but do you think this is a good home theater system? I am not a huge fan of the blue color on the speakers but I can live with that. What I do like about this system is that it has 2 hdmi inputs, optical and also coaxial in. Does anyone have any experience with this system and how it performs?

Rather take save a bit longer and start buying yourself decent components. Just an idea.

Um. How do you plan on upgrading a HTiB?

They made and sold so the user doesn't and can't upgrade

Ja, that's why I suggested he save a bit and maybe just start with a av receiver & two front speakers. Can get a el cheapo R400 dvd player for now if he does not already have one.

my advice is rahter by componetns slowly like ponder said buy a elcheapo dvd player, maybe spend yout R5k on a good AV reciever (amp) preferbly one with HD inputs and buy the speakers over time that way your system is future proof. home theaters are great but you cant add extra componets to make use of the speakers.

What decent AV receiver and two speakers can I get for R5000?

i can vouch for the samsung HT-TZ325. Awesome system for the price.
