I'd have went for the Pioneer Todoroki RS-7 if I was in the market for a packaged system.

I'm not sure if the Sony's receiver does HDMI repeating (video and audio via HDMI), but the Pioneer's does. And it's just better :P
 
Quick question... Is there any specific speaker cable that I would need to use with the Onkyo/Jamo package? I mean in terms of thickness, resistance etc? I'm not looking for anything too fancy and expensive... Gonna need about 50-60m of cable.
 
50-60m? Where do you live? A palace? ;)

Nothing in terms of resistance or fancy numbers - just reasonably thick. The number of strands is better than the way they're braided etc I know my previous AR speakers mentioned nothing less than 16 guage or something alone those lines.

I never picked up much of a difference between cables at home (R50,000 system) and I used a ton - but in the car there was a massive difference. However, I still go for the (cheap) brand names at home to make me feel better.

My room is 6m in length and 4m in width. All my equipment (Dstv decoders, PS3, Amp) etc is at the back of the room in a cabinet under my projector which is mounted on the ceiling. So running cables through the ceiling to my 3 front speakers requires about 15-17m of cable each and the rear speakers would require about 10m at most for both. (15x3)+10m=55m at least.

sound quality reduces with length of speaker cable. 15-17m is quite a distance.
 
Finally got my system about 2weeks ago and just finished setting it up this past weekend:)

I got the following package:

Option 2:
Onkyo TX SR508 Amp
Jamo S506HCS3 Speaker Package
Jamo SUB250

I'm very happy with this system. The sound is very crisp and clean even at high volumes. Although after bi-amping my front speakers i noticed that the bass produced by the fronts are actually over-powering my sub, but i still need to calibrate it properly. The only problem i have is that when time comes to upgrade, i don't think I'll be able to settle for anything less:)

Finding something to upgrade to is not the problem. Finding money to finance it, is :p
