Home Theatre Projects/Setups

Looks very much in the same sort of class to the Optoma HD20. I see this uses newer DLP technology, but do yourself a favour and go read up on the differences between DLP and 3LCD. I was glad I spent the extra cash on 3LCD, but it might not matter as much to you.

Quick compare between the Optoma, Samsung and the Epson. http://www.projectorcentral.com/parts_compare.cfm?add=5152&add=5910&add=5039

PS. Contrast ration doesn't mean much so don't stress to much about that when making comparisons.

Quick update: Cabling is now pretty much done. I probably still want to paint over the trunking at some stage. I am now in two minds about the "no nails" I used to attach the trunking. It bonded to the paint which if you put enough stress on it (like when you are routing and re-routing cables) comes off the wall. So I had to apply some again to stick it back in place. I think the wining recipe will be to use "no nails" but follow that through with a screw at each end of the trunking for additional support.

Here is what it looks like now:

I ended up adding the same size trunking down the right hand side for the speaker cable. So I now have have two strips <shrug>, it looks ok to me :)

Here is a close up of the section from the roof to the wall. I wasn't sure how this would work out, but I am happy with the results.

Next phase is a screen, which reminds me xrapidx; where are those pics of velvity border goodness? :p

Ya... I keep getting home... thinking about it - and then deciding I'm to lazy :p I'll see if I can get round to it tonight :p

I finally set up multi-room this December:

Harman Kardon AVR430 AV Receiver (7.1 channels). Two of the surround channels are assignable to multi-room and these are now driving a set of B&W 600 S3 speakers which are wall mounted in my patio/entertainment area.

Found a solution to my cabling issues. Makes cleaning up much easier as well.

Built some surround speaker stands out of 2 converted chrome bar stools and a piece of wood :D

Actually came out looking okay, will post some pics sometime.

Very very nice dude...

Thanks TB. Key to this installation is building a platform for the tv stand to slide onto whilst doing connections. Once connections are done the stand gets pushed back and the platform removed. Had to custom build the cable box as well from some melamine boards I had lying around.

Looking very nice wise_guy. I like the floating look.
I'm on the opposite side. Don't like the floating stand. Maybe if it was flush against the wall but this looks like David Copperfield will pop out any second and yell "suprise" :)

LOL might just have a heart attack if that had to really happen :D

Agreed. Nice work wise_guy. Where did you get those brackets from?

Thanks WL. Brackets had to be custom made. Just welded together some metal flat bars I had lying around and painted them.
