Home theatre system advice

We moved into our new house about a month ago, and I bought a LG 3D LED TV. The sound is not that great (as with pretty much all of my flatscreen TVs).

Currently using the PS3 to play 3D Blu-Ray, but with the sound also being poor, I thought it time to invest in a proper surround sound system (with 3D Blu-Ray player).

I would like to get a LG system, purely from an "integration" point of view with the Smart TV, etc etc. I prefer the Tall Boy speakers, and preferably wireless for the rear speakers.

I need some advice as to what to look out for, and any pointers you guys have.

LOL, as cheap as possible :) Difficult to say to be quite honest. As I obviously want best value for money, but I also don't want to go cheap and sit with a load of junk, and because I am not familiar with the systems, its difficult for me to put a peg in the ground in terms of budget

Personally I would not go for the LG alternative. You already have a blue ray player (PS3) - the sound will be great when you put it through a decent AVR. With no peg in the ground and not knowing your income to establish what you consider to be cheap, I would guess that R10k should do fine. Get a Yamaha, Onkyo or similar with decent speakers.
 
Even R10k is way more than he needs to pay.

The Marantz + Jamo combo that Dion Wired usually runs for about R7k is the best value for money system that you can get.

PS3 is located in a different entertainment area, I move it to the main area if we want to watch a 3D movie, which becomes a pain in the butt ... Let's say around the R5000 mark

Can you give me more details on exactly what that is ... does it include a Blu-Ray 3D player?

I just threw R10K in there. That Marantz+Jamo combo is a very nice setup!

R5k including a blue-ray - I guess the LG setup is the way to go for you.

Basically this receiver plus these speakers (including the sub). About R12k if you buy them separately, buy they always run a special where they sell the entire combo for around R7k.

Doesn't come with a BD player though, but those are cheap.

You see, this is why I don't want to put the peg down. If you tell me rather go for X, Y and Z for R7000, due to A, B and C, I will obviously consider. That's why I am asking the question here, as there are people around that knows way more about it than I do.

Mike's suggestion is really a good one. You will thank him later even if you spend more now than you anticipated.
 
Around R14k for the separate units. I saw in a different thread there was a special, but it ended on the 9th :(

Yeah don't stress, they run the special all the time, just keep checking the promo section on their website regularly. Be patient, it's worth the cash, you don't want to kick yourself later after spending R4k on a system that doesn't allow you to expand later on.

I wrote a guide on how to set the system up if/when you do get it.

That's exactly why I don't have a budget figure in mind. Don't want to be kicking myself 6 months down the line

I'd just like to reiterate that spending a bit more will pay off in the long run. I was never a fan of the all-in-one systems, so I saved a bit and got a decent Marantz amp hooked up to some Jamo's. Best decision ever... :love:
