Negative. My budget was a lot tighter. I'm still rocking this set https://www.game.co.za/game-za/en/A.../Sound-Bars/Sinotec-5-1-sound-bar/p/808905-EA. Surprisingly good sound for the price. Proper 5.1 surround. The only downside are the cables. None of it is wireless (nor would you expect it to be at that price point).
Damn. I'm seriously in the market but very unsure about which is the "right" one. Reading threads and a bit of google tells me to go with one that's got Atmos.
Is your budget 20k like the OP's? You should be able to get something lovely for that price.
No. 20K for a sound system is not on my list.

My neighbours aren't close, so sometimes i like to make a bit of noise. I just want good quality sound for tv/movies. Have a yamaha system in the braai area for ear popping music.

If classical get a Yamaha amp with KEF speakers (Q series)
If you want more boom boom get Denon Amp with Mission or Boston speakers
The other good speaker brands Paradigm, B&W, Klipsch.
Sony make good amps, but lately not great. Yamaha is pretty much the standard. Remember to get good wiring too. ie Van Den Hul or IXOS.
Frankly whoever said SINOTEC is making me laugh. It's totally CRAP.
How many watts you have makes no difference in Home Cinema. If its disco, sure, but in home cinema its all about clarity and the quality of the sound. Same with a good tv, its all about colour accuracy and not how bright it is, etc etc.
You can find the speakers second hand. Some of the older ones are still very good. With mission, most are paper based so check for a tear.
100w for a home cinema is pretty decent even some 75w speakers will do. But try and settle for about 100w all around. As long as the speakers are good.
For fronts you can get bookshelf or floorstanders. A centre.
for rear try getting the dipole surrounds.
Ideally try running 6.1 if your amp allows. 7.1 is a bit much.

What features of the PS5? It only supports 4k/60hz anyway so that should be fine. Doesn't the receiver have multiple inputs and one output? So you plug your PS4 directly into the receiver and then the receiver into the TV? The only thing the optical cable would then be used for is the sound from the TV apps.I love my Onkyo, had it for about 2 years now and thoroughly enjoying it.
Only draw back as mentioned is the tech does fall behind rather quickly, PS4 loved the Onkyo and recently upgraded to the PS5 but they don't like each other as much. Realized that the Onkyo only likes 4k/60 Hz so can't use some of the features of the PS5.
So if I want to enjoy the PS5 I either have to upgrade the TV or the Onkyo.
It does support native apps, such as Chromecast and Tidal etc.
Chromecast is only Audio - no visual.
I cannot remember in the 2 years owning it having to do a firmware upgrade, it has been connected to the net and I usually check if there is anything.
On select TV's it also doesn't like the HDMI (ARC) - I have a Hisense so had to use an optical cable from the TV to the Onkyo to get sound.
And it doesn't like the HDMI-CEC function either, on my old HTS it was lovely switching on the PS4 or TV and having the HTS switch on automatically, however Hisense and Onkyo don't talk nicely.
There is a nifty feature to add external speakers, so if the Onkyo is in the lounge and you want to kuier in the braai area, you can add two external speakers.
Also there is an app that allows you to control the Onkyo, so again you don't need to use the remote but the app can be buggy.

You can get really thin speaker cables that you can run to the rear, on the skirtings or in the ceilings and then down. Even some of the wireless ones needs power, so running it to a power source can be more irritating.

I've been looking at that Polk system. How does the rear speakers work ? Do they get charged and then set on a table or do they have to be plugged into 220V the whole time ?You could go for something like this.

I wouldn't have chosen Sinotec either. But bought that R2k system based on positive reviews and wasn't disappointed. Its almost as if it was made by someone else entirely and rebranded.It depends what you want to listen to.

Which Hisense is it though? As I've never had any CEC problems with my 2 hisenses plugged into an old Pioneer Home theater and they are almost the same units nowadays seeing as pioneer is part of Onkyo.
