Hope Zinde's son to be sent for a psychiatric evaluation
Johannesburg – The son of murdered TV personality Hope Zinde briefly appeared in the Brits Regional Court on Friday in connection with the murder of his mother and will be required to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Mark Zinde, 23, was arrested last week in connection with his mother's death. Drugs were also allegedly found in his possession.
During his last appearance on Monday, the National Prosecuting Authority said he would now have a court application issued to assess his mental capacity.
On Friday, the matter was postponed to allow time for the psychiatric evaluation.
According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku, the matter had been postponed to 18 July.
Hope’s body was found in the boot of her Range Rover after a family friend went looking for her.
The friend allegedly saw Mark peeping through the curtains of their home at the estate.
According to police reports, the family friend had tried unsuccessfully since Wednesday to make contact with Mark Zinde, but he had refused to open the door.
He only opened the door when the police arrived. They then noticed bloody marks leading from the bathroom to the garage.
According to Hope Zinde's uncle Jackson Letshufi, who spoke to broadcaster ANN7, it was believed that some people either helped Mark or urged him to murder his mother.

Hope Zinde’s son misses court for further psych treatment – NPA
Johannesburg - The son of former SABC board member Hope Zinde has missed his second court appearance in the Brits Magistrate's Court due to ongoing psychiatric evaluation, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Wednesday.
"He did not appear in court. Weskoppies was not ready with its reports and requested an extension," spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku told News24.
The court granted Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital an additional 30 days to complete its report.
This meant that Mark Warona Zinde was expected back in court on September 12.
During Zinde's last appearance, the court had heard his evaluation was not yet complete as the hospital was waiting for a bed to become available for him. A bed only became available a week before his court appearance last month. The matter had then been postponed to August 10.
The 23-year-old was arrested in connection with his mother's murder in June. Her body was found in the boot of her Range Rover at her home in the Pecanwood Estate, Hartbeespoort, on Saturday, June 11, after a family friend went looking for her.
Drugs and a 10kg weight covered in blood were found in the home, police said at the time.

Mark Warona Zinde was expected to apply for bail in the case involving the murder of his mother but that did not happen as the investigating officer only arrived at court after lunch.
"With all due respect, I don't know if I should be angry or laugh about it," Zinde's lawyer Francois Joubert said when the State asked for a postponement.
"My client has been in custody for more than three months, he has been waiting for his day in court."
Zinde walked into the courtroom wearing a blue and grey tracksuit and as soon as he stood in the dock, prosecutor Onnah Ndlovu asked the court for a postponement.
She explained that the prosecution only knew about the case in the morning and the investigating officer was not available. The matter had previously been heard at the regional court.
"We became aware of this matter this morning. The investigating officer just arrived now. He was away on other duties in Mokopane and Burgersfort. The State is in a predicament and I'm unable to consult with him and he is not feeling okay," she told the court.
Justice delayed
Ndlovu asked for more time to allow her the opportunity to consult. This left Joubert fuming and he accused the State of using delay tactics.
"The State's conduct is very unethical and unprofessional. They have no respect for the law, court and myself. Justice delayed is justice denied," he said.
The magistrate granted the postponement to September 20.
Outside court Joubert told the media he hoped the matter would be given priority and that his client would get his chance to apply for bail.
