Why don’t hospitals give you a time when you are going to be discharged ? Been waiting since 07:00 this morning and the only answer I get is : When the doctor decides.

Because the doctor has to clear it, if you keel over in the parking lot it'll become their problem.

If they are in surgery or playing golf and not there to sign the forms you're stuck.

Usually the doctor tells them when/how late you get discharged.

This guy is right. I was discharged from netcare N1 city at 9h00 this morning, I was first to go leaving a few in the ward still waiting for their doctors. I asked the doctor yesterday afternoon when he came around if I can leave at 9h00 this morning as my so still need to go to work, he signed of all my docs, I just had to sign the discharge form and got my meds from pharmacy, and off I went.

AFAIK hospitals have divided the day into 3 chargeable sections. After 12:00 you have to pay more.
