Hi

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a good host.
I hate my current host as I am unable to write to the folder with Dreamweaver due to permissions even though it is enabled in the settings.
To get my website live I have to tediously upload a file one by one.

Help!

Well, my website is going to have a local theme to it.
Would like at least 500mB and a user friendly control panel with a help system that is actually helpful.
Any suggestions.

hetzner - not the cheapest, but I've been happy with them for several years.

hetzner's good call-centre & uptime wise but their in-house control panel leaves a lot to be desired imo (no subdomains, custom dns config, or fcgi for php etc last time i checked)
are you talking shared, managed or vps? i assume shared.
are you talking windows or linux? i presume linux/agnostic.
you'd be better off with cpanel on texo. depending on the above.
or pm sofduxrudi / ravenservers on this forum and see if they'll let you test drive an account.
not sure control panel "help" docs are ever that useful tbh.
cpanel / plesk are probably the most robust in terms of help, functionality and usability though.

re: op
i've been having timeouts via ftp using a wa account with 2 of my hosts.
everything works fine when i switch to another isp connection - i think there's some kind of firewall issue with wa/is wrt ftp ports.
that's my guess. try changing your connection and see if that makes any diffs.

Hai....abubolt
You can get the website Hosting Plans at low cost here Thewebpole they provide goods plans ,then you can upload your hosting content.

Go with Texo ask them for a trial account. Your FTP timeouts is due to your local ISP, I asked mine to do a speed test and they reconfigured my wireless and we can upload international at over 350kb/s.

"Goedkoop koop is duur koop" as they say. You pay for service in SA screw what anyone says, if they cannot deliver dump them. We have been hosting with a major international hosting company and after one email to Texo we drop our latency with over 100ms and to top it our international clients get their feeds from their own countries.

Those corporates like the big "H" feel nothing for you when you server dies, it's your problem so sort it out yourself, trust me I seldomly post in this forum but I was stunned by the quality of service they provide.

My 2 cents
