Hey everyone

Lets say my PBX is hosted by 1 company that provides us with internet and phones
now i want to move away to another provider, am i able to keep my 087 numbers when i move the link ?

i been hearing that its a problem ?

Let me know what you think

I think it will depend on who the 087 numbers are registered to.

Yeah i need to check that, also someone mentioned to me about ICASA rules that you cannot port 087 numbers

Yeah 087 numbers are allocated in blocks to service providers so you wont be able to port the 087 number from one ISP to another. We had the same cluster f@@@ with telfree a while ago.

Yep. Its sh&tty that ICASA dont allow porting of 087 numbers. Thats why its best to try and get a geographical number from your SIP providers. A lot of them can provide you with a 011/012/013 etc number instead of a 087 number. At least then you can port between service providers. Exactly the problem you are facing now is why its not a good idea to advertise 087 numbers, unless you know the service provider is in it for the long run and can provide a good product/service.
