Hi all,

Has anyone used this company to rent out their property? Rates look good and seem like they are based in Cape Town.

I have a two-bedroom apartment in Cape Town area that I currently live in and want to rent out as I am leaving the country in mid April.

I also want to leave the apartment furnished (Fridge, DW, WM, Bed, Couch, TV stands, coffee table, only big stuff and some curtains). I don't know if HouseME is a good option for furnished. Maybe someone can recommend a rental agent that they are happy with?

Thanks in advance!

Overall, I’ve liked using HouseMe. I found their website buggy and difficult, but their staff are very responsive and efficient. Virtually every step of the process required human intervention, so as they grow, I suspect they will drop the ball as their staff get overwhelmed (unless they dramatically improve their website).

They also take all their fees upfront (unpaid rental insurance, eviction cover), so I have a small concern that they go tits up and leave me in the lurch.

But for now, they’re doing a good job.

Thanks

If I am looking at R12k rent per month, and I take their assist package with rental guarantee and eviction cover, it seems like its going to cost me 10% of the rental fee per month in anyway (+-R1200), unless I am missing something.

Isn't this similar to what other agencies charge in anyway? Like Chas Everitt or Rawson, etc?

The fees are advertised as a % per month, but they calculate the fee over the lease term and take it all upfront.

I don't think that traditional agencies offer eviction cover and rental guarantees? Rawson told me they wanted 8%, just for finding the tenant! I was too shocked to even be outraged.
