How about: let's discuss cholesterol

Cholesterol levels have been really bad for years, overall average around 6.5 level. Doctor had wanted to up the dosage from 10mg to 20mg but I refused.

Total my total level was 4.2. For the last four months I've been taking evening primrose oil capsules and thinking it might have an effect on serum lipids. Blood pressure is also perfect.

A new analysis of statins shows that millions of people are getting no benefit from taking them and that 40% of people who are taking them no longer meet the requirements to take them based on the analysis. But in the bigger context, this is just the latest tampering with guidelines for who "needs" these drugs. In 1984, when a committee (that was influenced by pharmaceutical companies) decided cholesterol was bad, they said that LDL should be 250 or lower. Over the years, pharma influenced the lowering of that recommendation so that it is now 100 or lower. The lower the recommendation, the more drugs they can sell. Now this study is changing the guidelines again. They are just making it up as they go along. Cholesterol is an essential molecule for many aspects of our physiology, statins have not been shown to prevent heart disease, and statins have been shown to cause a huge host of side effects. The madness must stop!

hmmm ??

All research aside, it's just not logical for a molecule like cholesterol, that has been in the bodies of animals forever, to be the major cause of a disease that has only become an epidemic withing the last 80 years or so. To think that a molecule with so many important functions in the body is also causing disease doesn't make sense. Being narrowly focused on cholesterol has prevented the medical world from finding the actual causes of heart disease. It's time for a new approach.

Plaque in arteries is when clotting tissue, not cholesterol, gets deposited on the artery lining in response to damage of the barriers protecting the artery and then the artery itself. There are many things that can contribute to this damage. One thing that heavily damages the arteries, that most cardiologists are not aware of, is endotoxemia from toxic dental procedures, poor dental health, or poor gut health.

In this clip Nina talks about the history of how saturated fat was demonised by Ancel Keys and how our focus wrongly shifted to cholesterol as the cause of heart disease.

Dave Feldman explains the Lipid Energy Model - if you're not already familiar with his work, this may totally change your understanding of the "bad" LDL cholesterol.

Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to studying heart disease after receiving a high cholesterol diagnosis. I must say, this thread is by far the most accurate and informative one I have come across, debunking the countless misconceptions and falsehoods about the condition. It is a must-read for anyone who wishes to be fully informed.

I prefer getting my medical information from people who don’t spell good as “gud” … twice! What is this? Are they enlightened teenagers?
