Why not make it so that after a certain amount of off sides the player will get a yellow card ? That will make sure there's more discipline from the player, and the game will be forced to flow more freely....

Just curious as to what you guys think ?

so u dont want forwards to try and attack ?

a well oiled defense with that rule will kill off any game in my opinion.

Dont give those poor overworked referees and lines people more work to do - they are struggling enough with the load as is

That's a dumb idea. You're encouraging the forwards to not attack for fear of being carded. In any case, if they're offside, they already get punished with a free kick, so what's the point of the card? Do you really want to see a striker get sent off purely on offsides

That would be the gayest thing ever.

+2 - No imagine yellow carding Nani for the second time in order to produce red because he was found offside consistantly...lmao

Yellow cards for offsides = fail

Offsides are more often than not, not the fault of the striker but as a result of the intelligence of a backline.

Oh I have an Idea - card the backline, it's after all there fault they pushed up and the oposing player found himself offside...lol

I really don't see a difference between a player being shown a yellow card for constant fouls or for constant off sides.

If you don't, you need more zinc in your diet.

This idea also does not take into account that sometimes forwards don't know that they're offside, so imagine a forward getting sent off for unintentional offsides - lol, sorry but it makes the idea sound even more stupid!

In addition the opposing team now has the power to influence the game and aid in getting rid of threatening opposition strikers by continuously setting an offside trap for them! And if you're thinking that teams are too honourable to do something like that, think again, modern day soccer can sometimes get nasty on the field and off the field!

Sorry but WTF is the point of offsides? why should one team be punished for the other teams fail?

Huh?

To answer the OP, as Randhir mentioned - the offending team already concedes a free kick so a yellow card would be a little harsh and the game would become a farce if attackers were impeded in such a way. imo it's the managers responsibility to tell his player to time his runs better but the player should also keep and eye on the defence line at all times and adjust his position constantly.

:D this is the most stupid moronic idea ever

As i mentioned after a certain amount of off sides, a yellow card should be awarded. Anyway, i just thought i'd pitch it out there. Some ideas might work, others might not.

Well in game where a 'lazy' attacker is getting called offside every 5 minutes it does become annoying as more often than not the game is stopped for a free kick.
If you're saying that the dude is allowed say 3 offside calls and then gets a yellow card for each subsequent offside then well he would be careful and time his runs from the start of the match. I can kinda see some logic but I still don't think it would work very well in the end. Just imagine SAF/Wenger's rage fits when one of their players gets sent off for being caught offside 5 time and one of those calls are 'dodgy' :D

On a side note, I think it would be interesting to see the "pass back to GK" rule changed so as that the GK is not allowed to touch the ball with his hands regardless of whether his teammate headed/chested it back to him. No more of these bail-out cushioned back headers from defenders in trouble.

Why should the player "committing the offside" be in the wrong just because the defenders can't stay behind him?

LOL. You're joking right?
If the defence was 'forced' to stay 'behind' the attacker then the attacker could simply go hang around in opposition penalty box a wait for something to happen. I think the rule is setup that way for a reason :)
