How about the offside rule ?

Well in game where a 'lazy' attacker is getting called offside every 5 minutes it does become annoying as more often than not the game is stopped for a free kick.
If you're saying that the dude is allowed say 3 offside calls and then gets a yellow card for each subsequent offside then well he would be careful and time his runs from the start of the match. I can kinda see some logic but I still don't think it would work very well in the end. Just imagine SAF/Wenger's rage fits when one of their players gets sent off for being caught offside 5 time and one of those calls are 'dodgy' :D

On a side note, I think it would be interesting to see the "pass back to GK" rule changed so as that the GK is not allowed to touch the ball with his hands regardless of whether his teammate headed/chested it back to him. No more of these bail-out cushioned back headers from defenders in trouble.

Thanks Marty. Glad to see you get what i'm talking about. I guess it might be a bit impractical. Ah well. It gets kinda annoying when players are so frequently called for offside and the game is brought to a halt.

Why not make it so that after a certain amount of off sides the player will get a yellow card ? That will make sure there's more discipline from the player, and the game will be forced to flow more freely....

Just curious as to what you guys think ?

When we play social ball with friends we don't play offside cos its almost impossible to police, there's always an argument about it, but
The offside rule with a ref and a linesman works and it gives defenders the advantage when player X is offside (player X is not necessarily Adebayor or Joefrom Man City). And the further layer to the game is how aware and organised the defense is to be able to catch the striker offside and the ability of the midfielder to thread a perfect pass through the defense beating the offside trap.

I hate stoppages in the game but I feel that Fifa rather implement technology for offside decisions and goal-line disputes.

Bill Shankly on Explaining on what the off-side rule should be "If a player is not interfering with play or seeking to gain an advantage, then he should be."

Rather pointless and stupid idea to give yellow cards for offsides. It's not just bad timing on the strikers runs, but also good timing of the defense to catch him out. Anyway, fail idea is fail.
